"Rise and shine!" Sophie whispered as she shook Keefes shoulders lightly.
"Foster, why?"
"Why what?" She replied sweetly.
"Why did you wake me up so early?"
Sophie scowled. "You slept in until 10!"
"Not late enough. Besides," Keefe said as he sat up, "we don't even have to do anything important!"
"Well I wanna show you the-" Sophie stopped as she realized something, "the um-"
"Foster, I know my abs are amazing, and I have to say you being speechless is fun, but uh," Keefe struggled to put a shirt on, "what were you saying?"
"Um, I want to show you Paris!" She blushed.
"Any particular reason? Paris is the city of love..."
"Well, I, you see, it's, um...no."
"Okay. Whatever you say..." Keefe winked.
~~~~~~~~~~~a few moments later~~~~~~~~~~
"Foster, look!"
"Oh my gosh! No way!"
"It's so cool!!! Wait...what is it again?"
"This is the Eiffel Tower! It's a very important part of history here," Sophie explained, pulling him by his hand and walking to get a closer view.
"Wow," Keefe breathed. "I don't know much about this big metal thing, but I've gotta say it's pretty neat."
Sophie rolled her eyes. "It's not just a 'big metal thing', but I'll let it slide."
Keefe smiled. "I heard about one of these things called phones, so I got one. Photo?"
"That looks expensive," Sophie commented as he pulled out his phone.
"Yeah, I don't really know how much it costed. But it looks cool!" Keefe pointed at his weird-shaped phone.
"Whatever you say," Sophie said. "And why not take the photo?"
"Cool! Smile!" Keefe said as he pressed the photo button and held up a peace sign.
"So, what do you want to do?" Sophie asked, swinging their entertwined hands.
"I don't really know this place very well, but we could go walking and just see what we find?" Keefe suggested.
"Sounds fine to me!"
So they went exploring. They found a historical building, which they pretended to be statues in front of. They also found a stream, with shimmering rocks and water, and Sophie managed to snap a photo of Keefe almost falling in! It was hilarious if she said so herself. They even got ice cream, which Keefe deemed 'the best treat of all time'.
Soon it was sunset. They had a lot of fun in those few hours, and definitely a lot of laughs. Sophie truly was having the best day of her life. Maybe it was because of Paris, maybe it was because of Keefe, but she just felt so free. At home.
Sophie breathed in the fresh air as her and Keefe sat down on a park bench. "It's good to be back," she whispered.
"What makes this place so special?" Keefe asked in confusion.
"It's not just this place. It's being home in the Forbidden Cities again. It's been so long, and I just feel so free for some reason. I missed life here."
"Well hey, you've got a good few days to soak it all in. We'll take lots of photos, okay?"
"Yeah," she nodded.
But as she walked with him and the twinkling stars that were just appearing, she knew she would miss life here more than anything else. Paris was so beautiful, and she couldn't bear the fact that she would be leaving soon. With or without Keefe.
She really felt at home here. But Sophie knew she fit better with the Elvin crowd. They were her people. So why did she feel so bad?
Well Sophie sure seems to have a lot going on. Oh well. Maybe I'll be nice enough to let everything work out for her.
Maybe. 😂😉
