Chapter 3: Manny

"Who told Them that we had no parents under us" Nina asks pacing impatiently.

"I don't know". I say putting my hand on my forehead

A knock on the door. My heart skipped a beat. "Is it them?" Nita asked looking scared. "I don't know" I replied very scared. "If those people find out that we are orphans, they will take us to a crappy orphanage". I go closer to the door, and open it. Thank God

"Hey kiddies," Uncle John comes in with Manny. Manny and uncle John has been dating for the past six months and he always brings her along anytime he's coming over. He says that she wants her to know us better because they might get married someday. He spends so much time with her that he doesn't stay with us anymore, and to be honest, I don't really like her, whenever she's around us she feels uncomfortable and I noticed it.

Nita sighs. "We thought you were child services". Nina and I roll our eyes. That girl just can't keep a secret.

"Child services?" Uncle John asks looking surprised.

"Yes uncle, a bunch of people from child services came here" I say as they walk in and settle at they sit on the dinning room table.

"What Will they be doing here?" Uncle John asks looking at Manny who has been quiet since she got here. She is hiding something.

Manny Whispers something under her Breath. "What did you say babe?" Uncle John asked

"Um, I said i have no idea" she says giving my uncle an assuring look. I can tell it was fake.

"Okay, Liz sweetie could you cook up something for us to eat we are starving". He says while rubbing his stomach.

"Where have you guys been?". Nina asks. Uncle John looks at Manny. "Well we went to a party".

"Why didn't you eat at the party?" Nina asking the obvious question. Manny responds "Well it was a birthday party, my aunts' daughter turned eight today"      

I didn't want to respond. I went to the kitchen to cook up some spaghetti. I called Nina and Nita to set up the table. I brought the food, the aroma all on my nose. We all gather for dinner when there was a knock on the door. Nita, Nina and I share a look, would it be the the child services?. Uncle John noticing how worried we were looking, stood up to answer the door, and so it was the child services.

"Hello, may I help you" Uncle John says. We all meet him to the door while Manny sits still looking shocked."Aren't you coming?" I ask frowning my face. "I am, just give me a second". I rolled my eyes. I don't have time for that hag.

"I am Remy Tetrazzini, from the child services. I was here earlier. I was told that their parents were away in Toronto and they are staying with a guardian?" She smiles softly. She is weird.

"Yes, I am their Uncle John Parker. He let's out his hand. They exchange hands. "Thank you, I got a report that three kids are living here alone, and as a caretaker it's my duty to check if it's really true or false". Damn she sounds like a lawyer. "Well there must be a mistake because, there is no orphan living here". Uncle John says. "Clearly there is none, sorry for bothering you, and again it's a pleasure meeting you, Mr John. She let's out her hand for another hand shake. "Pleasure to meet you too, Mrs Remy." He takes in the hand shake. "Sorry for the disturbance"
She turns around and they all leave.

"Phew". Nina says. "Is good that they're gone, who knows what would have happened if they found out" She says sitting on the dinning chair.

"Well she would have taking us to an orphanage" I say as I pour water into our cups.

"Uh babe, I need to check something outside". Manny said scratching her shoulder. "Oh sure babe". My uncle says as he pecks her cheek. Yuck

She went outside looking so suspicious. "I need to follow her" I said to my self. "Uncle John I need to check something from outside". "Okay". I ran out immediately and followed her. Then I saw her talking to Mrs Remy. What the heck is going on?. I pull out my phone to record, I Know it's gonna be juicy.

"What do you think you're doing?, What if they found out that I sent you here?" Well that was straight to the point. "Even though you paid us, i still have to do my job". Mrs Remy said.

"Your job?, your job?, Oh, you said that you're doing your job right, if John found out that I called you here what do you think he'll do to me huh? He loves those kids more than he's own self. I don't want you to make any complications here now get out". Manny yelled.

"What do you mean by that, I can go in there and tell everyone what you did" Mrs Remy threatened.

"Oh you're threatening me, don't forget that I have a video showing everything that happened, the transaction, the bribe, everything. Tell them about me and I will let the video out to your boss and you'll get fired, and I'll make sure that you'll never get a job  ever again. So which do you prefer". She looks at Mrs Remy.

I can believe she would do this.

"I won't say anything to them". Mrs Remy said looking do disappointed.

"I thought so. Now leave and never come back, cause if I found out that you came back, I will do exactly what I said, and don't you dare double cross me Remy unless you'll regret it". Her angry face turns into a smile."And don't think I'm bluffing" she eyes Mrs Remy."Get out!" She yelled. Mrs Remy walked out feeling so sad. I felt so bad for her. I'll expose her.
