It's like I'm a statue or something. I can't move and it doesn't make any sense; there's just something about the way Natalia reacted to seeing Clay calling me that makes me uneasy, "aren't you going to answer that?" She whispers sweetly.

My lips part, "well, I-" I take a deep breath, "yeah." I grab my phone and press the accept button, putting it to my ear. "What Clay?" I snap and see Natalia staring down at her pencil.

"Nick! Nick, there's a huge party tonight. You have to show up, dude!" He practically shouts.

"I'm busy right now," I growl, not bothering to hide the hostility in my voice. "I'll call you later, don't text me," I snap at him before hanging up right as he begins talking. I sigh and turn to Natalia who looks like she's seen a ghost.

"Sorry," I mumble. "That was," I clear my throat and force myself to say, "that was my friend." She looks away, her mouth open to take breaths and, for some reason, I feel like she knows Clay. "Do you know Clay?" I finally ask.

                                  * Natalia POV *

Clay. His phone said Clay on it. That couldn't possibly be the same jerk from school, the mr. popular boy, could it? Nick doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would hang out with Clay.

But when he answers, it's confirmed. I hear Clay's voice clear as day, telling Nick about some party. I can't believe this, I literally can't. I take a few deep breaths, realizing that I'm here, tutoring another jerk. Nick hangs up and looks over at me but I can't look at him in the eyes.

I'm afraid of him. It's kind of pathetic, but Clay is really rude and I'm scared of Nick showing his true colors.

"Sorry," he mumbles. "That was," he clears his throat and hesitates, "that was my friend." I look away quickly, not knowing how to deal with this. My mouth is open in shock and I don't even know what to say. "Do you know him?" Nick asks.

I panic, not knowing what would be the right answer in this situation. "No," I lie straight through my teeth. "Never heard of a Clay," I mumble, drawing little nothings onto the page before me. Feeling nicks eyes on me makes it harder to keep my calm.

Nick sighs and I swear I hear him say 'good' but I'm not entirely sure.

"How long will you be staying?" I ask, hoping he'll leave as soon as possible. I don't think I can ever see Nick in the same light as I had moments ago; his friend Clay had roofied my friend Jasmine and taken advantage of her.

I blink back tears at the memory of two years ago, remembering the way jasmine sobbed before she finally moved away. It was so terrifying and I pray the same think doesn't happen to Paige. She's my best friend and I couldn't bear it. "As long as you'll allow," Nick gives me a small smile but I don't return it.

"About an hour, then," I say and pick the book back up, handing it to him.

He looks slightly taken back, but takes the book from me after a moment. Nick begins reading out loud and I just gaze at him. How can this angel looking figure have something to do with that scumbag clay.

His light freckles draw my attention and soon enough, I'm almost sure that I drooled a little. 'Stop. He's evil' my mind screams but deep down, I can't believe it. I help Nick annotate, at some moments out fingers brushing together, always making me blush. I'm quite curt with the boy, though, not willing to fall for his tricks.

                                    * Nick POV *

The phone call seemed to have spoiled the air between Natalia and I. She no longer gave breathtaking smiles and instead bitter small ones. There no way she doesn't know clay and I begin to wonder if she was.. one of his flings.
