* Nick POV *
I hurry to change into a button up and some ripped jeans, combining the casual, yet formal look. "Where are you going all dressed up like that?" My sister Syd asks, sticking her nose into my business.
I roll my eyes, "none of your beeswax," I recite the line from probably third grade. Syd comes in and fixes my hair, fluffing it a little. "Thank you," I murmur as I spritz on some my cologne.
"Hot date?" She teases as she looks at me through the full-length mirror.
I roll my eyes again and flip her off, "no, I'm going to meet my tutor." Sydney laughs at me and I shove past her, picking up my backpack and leaving. I put the address into google maps and see it's only four minutes away.
I shrug and decide to just walk, the summer sky shining on my face. I walk past the old ice cream parlor Syd and I used to eat at all the time and smile. Such simpler times. I'm relaxing and loving that there's new possibilities as I walk with a skip in my step.
Then I feel the buzz of a message in my pocket, pulling out the phone to see something I didn't want to see.
I actually scrunch my face up in disgust upon reading the message Clay send me. "Dude Paige is shit faced drunk and it's only 4 in the afternoon🤣. Should I shit that😏?" He send me.
I feel like either throwing my phone onto the tarmac of the street I'm walking on or literally going over to wherever the hell Clay is and punching his face in. I can't believe he would even ask to take advantage of someone, that sick motherfucker. I roll my eyes and leave him on read, trying to return to my previous good mood.
I don't manage and instead decide to stop at the arcade that catches my eye.
Syd and I used to go here also when we were younger. I walk in and make the decision of messing around for a while. I might even find a cute girl who plays arcade games. I laugh at the thought and buy some tokens.
The arcade and almost every store in town is littered with decorations of cactuses and cowboys, javelinas and suns. I suppose that's what we get for living in a southwestern state. I pick a shooting game and skillfully shoot the enemy, not missing once. I guess playing every summer until I was 13 pages off.
I'm looking for the space invaders game when I see two people around my age arguing.
"We were supposed to hang out today!" How could you just agree to it without thinking about our plans!" This brunette, quite tall looking guy exclaims to a girl who's facing away from me.
