Chapter 6: Accidental Confession

Chapter Summary: Aizawa tells Ide how he feels about Matsuda. 

"This person claimed to know Kira. And these two claimed to be him," Aizawa explained.

It was now the following week and he and Ide were comparing notes on some of the witnesses connected to the Kira case.

"I don't understand why anyone would want to say they are Kira," Ide said. "Don't they know that they would be arrested if we believed them?"

"I think they do it just to toy with us," Aizawa said. "Some people don't realize how serious this case really is."

"Guess you're right," Ide said. "Still, I don't see..."

Ide said more, but at that moment Matsuda walked into the room, and Aizawa did not hear a word that Ide said. Aizawa suddenly felt nervous and excited at the same time, too. And he could not keep his eyes off of Matsuda as the younger man conversed with L and the Chief. Matsuda really was cute. How had Aizawa never noticed that before?

Aizawa also knew that he had a full day of working with Matsuda on this investigation and he was looking forward to it.

"Aizawa? Aizawa!" Ide's voice brought Aizawa back to their discussion. "Were you listening?"

Aizawa hesitated. "No. Sorry, I...I got distracted. What were you saying?"

"Just that there's so many of the witnesses who have been saying the same thing about..."

What would Matsuda do if I kissed him? Aizawa's thoughts cut in. The mere idea of kissing Matsuda thrilled him. No, it's best that I don't think about it.

Aizawa feared that there would come a time where, unable to hold back anymore, he would simply give in to these urges he felt regarding Matsuda.

What would Matsuda do? Aizawa was pretty certain that if he were to kiss him, Matsuda would probably pull away from him, punch him, and then never speak to him again. Aizawa did not want that.

Or maybe he wouldn't do any of that. What if, instead, he kissed me back?

Aizawa was revelling in this thought, until Ide interrupted once again. "Aizawa!"

"Yes. What?"

Ide sighed. "Alright, what's going on with you?"

"Nothing. It's just-I've got a lot on my mind."

"You might as well tell me about it," Ide suggested. "Apparently, you're thinking more about that than anything else at the moment."

Aizawa actually wanted to be able to tell someone, but he would do so discreetly. He glanced over to make sure that Matsuda nor anyone else was not within earshot.

"Okay," Aizawa began. "Ide, have you ever had a friend, someone you've known for a few years, and then start to realize that you have feelings for them? Only, you're sure that this friend won't feel the same way and you don't want to jeopardize the friendship?"

Ide smirked at him. "You like someone. Who is she?"

"She?" Aizawa asked. Right. Ide would probably assume it's a woman that I like. "She...she's great."

"What's her name?"

"Name?"

"Yeah, you know, the word others call her by."

"Name, right," Aizawa said. "It's-Kimiko?"

"Are you telling me or asking me?" Ide said. "What's her last name?"
