It was nearly midnight when Baekhyun returned home in an exhausted state. He had a long day after whatever happened with his mom and Munhee; also he had to work till this late as he went to office a few hours later than he was supposed to.
His house seemed exceptionally quiet. Munhee wasn't waiting for him like she always did whenever he's late. Not that he wanted to see her as the first thing the moment he stepped in the house. And he knew pretty well that it's shouldn't be surprising to not see the girl here as they had a rough morning.
Baekhyun ignored the eerie feeling inside his chest and went straight towards his kids' room to watch them for a few moments, as they might've already been sleeping. He had to move carefully as the house was almost dark in absence of any sort of lightings.
He opened the kids' door, careful to not make any sound, then he peeked inside and the kids' room was also as dark as the night outside, while normally there's always some dim litted lights to prevent the kids from getting scared to sleep there. He immediately darted inside, lightened up the room only to find it empty.
He panicked a little. But he tried to stay positive, there's many other rooms in the house, they might be somewhere else, if not here. They might be with Munhee.
Baekhyun sprinted towards Munhee's room, not even bothering to knock, he flashed open the doors. His heart skipped a few terrified beats when he found the room empty again.
Within next few minutes, he searched every nook and cranny of the house, finding no trace of neither Munhee, nor the girls. He again went to Munhee's room, his hands shaking for some unknown reasons as he opened her cupboard which was half empty, indicating what he didn't want to assume. Munhee was nowhere, her belongings were also missing.
Munhee was gone from his house, most probably from his life as well. And she took the babies with her.
Baekhyun plopped down on Munhee's bed, massaging his temples which started hurting much badly from before. But was it too early to assume things? What if something else had happened? What if something happened to her or the babies? What if they needed him?
Baekhyun rushed towards his friend Junmyeon's house. From there he didn't get any information. He got back home. Then he remembered he had a goddamned cellphone and he could've actually called her in the first place without getting panicked.
His body was almost stiffened when he saw Munhee had given him three calls in the evening which he didn't get to receive due to his workloads. Or was he too drowned in his thoughts even when he was supposed to work to receive her calls?
Baekhyun felt angry at himself. What if she had any emergency? What if she wanted to talk to him?
'I don't want to talk to you right now.' This was what she had said the last time he saw her.
With a nervous heart, he dialed her number; once, twice, thrice. No one received it.
"Dammit." Baekhyun groaned out of frustration.
Now he had only one choice left. If he'd return empty hand from there, then he's gonna have to go to police to file a missing report for his wife and children.
His hands were clammy when he dialed his intended number while he made his way to his room.
"Hello, Baekhyun?"
"Hello, Mom. Sorry to disturb you at this hour, but I want to ask you something. Please don't get worried. Just answer me and have faith on me." Baekhyun started with his mother-in-law, he knew if she didn't know where her daughter was, then she would get really worried and he didn't want to worry anyone.
"Yes, go on. Is everything alright? You don't sound alright." The older woman asked in concern.
"I'm...I don't know. Mom, do you by chance know w-where Munhee is? I c-can't find her in the house. She isn't receiving my calls. Do you know?" He didn't dare to utter that her grand-daughters were also missing along with Munhee. It would make her super panic if they weren't in her house.
"Yes, Baekhyun. Munhee came to our house today. She said you didn't answer her calls , so she left a note on your bed."
Baekhyun trailed his eyes on his bed and he saw the neatly folded yellow paper there. He visibly let out a huge sigh of relief, he didn't even know he was holding his breath at the fear of hearing the unwanted answer.
But now that it's confirmed that Munhee was in her parents house. Did that mean she really left his house? Left him?
Another wave of panic hit him hard. He didn't know the reasons for it. But he felt desperate, and all he wanted was to see Munhee and his kids in front of his eyes. He needed to check with his own to eyes that they're alright. They've got to be alright.
"Baekhyun? Are you there? Hello?"
"Yes, Mom. I'm listening." Baekhyun almost forgot that he was still on phone due to his tangled thoughts. However, he didn't waste much time, and reached the note Munhee had left for him.
It said:
I'm going to my house.
Kids will stay with me.-Munhee.
"Do you want to talk with Munhee? She's probably in her room..." Munhee's mother spoke from other line.
"No! I...I'm coming. I'm coming there." Baekhyun conceded. He couldn't stay here any longer.
"Now? Isn't it too late for you to drive till here?"
"I'll be fine. I'm sorry for the inconvenience." He hastily mumbled and ended the call.
Next, he took his car keys while pocketing his handphone. He rushed towards his car and hit the engine, his destination Munhee.
