when he asks you out

eren's pov:
     today was the day. i was going to confess to my crush, y/n. me and y/n are childhood friends because of our parents' relationship. our parents spent their teen days together and were inseparable. my mom and their mom were the closest. from what my mom told me, they always had a girls night out once a week and a sleepover every other day. they practically lived together. my dad and theirs would always go out for drinks and play outside sports. then, they had kids. our cribs were always next to each other whenever one of our parents would take turns babysitting. we always stuck together through thick and thin. they were always the ones to stand up for me when the village bullies would come after me. we met armin through the same bullies that tormented me. and then soon after we met mikasa. and i'll be honest, i did get pretty jealous of how close mikasa and y/n were.

     its been years and we're still inseparable, just like both of our parents. if i were to ever stand on a thin piece of ice with hot shoes, then they would too. that's one of the things i like most about them. they always stick with me no matter what the consequences are. like the time everybody found out i was a titan shifter and i almost got killed, mikasa, armin, and y/n were the ones to save me. armin was the one to stand up. mikasa was the one to keep gaurd of me and armin, and y/n was the one that walked in front of the garrison soldiers just to defend me. that took a lot of guts for a 15 year old. but that was the day. the day i found out they were the one for me, and i swore i would never let a single fly hurt them.

     a let out a nervous breath as i wait in the stables (that's not very gentlemanly of you, eren 😐) with a special bouquet of flowers i picked myself. my left foot tapped on the ground as i leaned against the wall. i look down at the ground, blushing just imagining if they said yes. my breathing began to speed up as i heard footsteps coming closer and i lift my head back up. in front of me stood a goddess/god. i feel the heat rush to my cheeks as i turn my head slightly away, scared of what they'll think.

     "hey. you said you wanted to meet here?" they spoke. i sheepishly let out a laugh as i rub the back of my neck with my left hand.
      "heh, u-uh yeah i did.." i began, "listen, me and you have been the closest ever since we were born. we did everything together. we ate together, we played together, we slept together. we were the bestest of friends. but later on, i came to realize that..." they look at me with an eyebrow raised. "...that i like you more than a friend. i want to be lovers. i want to spend the rest of my life with you without calling you 'just a friend'. i could never imagine my life without you. you made me the person i am today," i grabbed their left hand. "and i am forever so grateful for that. so i callee you here, to ask you if.." i hand them the flowers from my right hand. "..if you would like to be my lover?"

      i look at them expectantly, waiting for their answer.

     they grabbed the flowers out of my hand and then say, "YES! I WOULD LOVE TO!" i never got a chance to respond back before falling back onto the ground, letting out a "oomf" from the harsh impact. i look down to see they have tackled me.

     i hugged them with my eyes closed as we lay on the ground, earning a few stares from people, given we are laying in the stables. they then quickly get up, wiping the dust off the sides of their clothes.

     "hehe, so we're a couple now?" they look up at me.
"yes, we are" i gave them a soft smile as i pull them in for another hug. i pulled back a bit to look at her eyes, slowly leaning in as my heart beat echoes through my head. our lips connect as both of our eyes fluttered close. their hands on my shoulders and mine on their waist. after the short kiss, we share a loving laugh, blushing at our actions. i remove my hands from their waist and take their hand.

"let's go. i wanna tell everybody about us." i say as i drag them to headquarters.

    from that day on, it was countless years of beautiful bouquets and flower crowns in the field.
