"You excited for the 'All Valley Tournament' this weekend?" I heard Y/N say as I ate some of my fries. Y/N and I have been friends since we were little. I secretly always had a crush on her but she doesn't know, and she never will. I can't risking losing her if she doesn't feel the same.
Looking up to her from my plate, a smile appeared on her face as a I perked up at the question. Nodding excitedly, I watched as her eyes grew bright, drawing me in.
"Yes! I can't wait. It's gonna be so good. Get to finally beat Cobra Kai," I said making her chuckle as my heart swelled at the sound.
"I can't wait to watch you. I bet you're gonna do great," Y/N said as she moved some hair out of her eyes so perfectly delicately before reaching for one of her own fries. As she put the food in her mouth, I watched her every movement, taking in every detail. Like the way a small smile came to her face as she bit down on her food cause she was happy. Or the way she sometimes softly licked the tops of her fingers if the fries had a lot of salt. Looking at the girl, my heart overflowed with so much emotion, I felt like I was going to burst. I have to tell her.
"Hey Y/N?" I asked, making Y/N's attention go straight to me as she swallowed her food. "I need to tell you something. I....I lo-" I started before the diner door burst open with a loud thud stopping me through my sentence. Watching Y/N jump in her seat, I turned around to see who it was. Screams were heard through the business as the man who threw open the door lifted a gun. A gasp escaped my lips as he looked around the room. Suddenly, I felt Y/N's hand connect with mine in an effort to feel safe but I couldn't drag myself away from looking to him. His cold, blue eyes searched the room, mostly likely looking for his target. Y/N's hand held on tight with mine as my palms became sweaty.
"Robby, I'm scared," I heard Y/N whisper making me look to her. My heart broke as tears brimmed in her eyes. "I'm really scared," she whispered again, my heart breaking at the thought that should could get hurt. Turning back to the man, I watched as he turned away to face the other side room before standing up. Determination fuelled my blood as I slowly snuck up behind him, my karate skills kicking in. A sick feeling entered my stomach as I neared him.
Sneaking up behind the him, I hit him making him fall to floor. A small small came to my face as I heard him thump to the ground. Just as I thought we were all in the clear, he swiftly moved up with his gun, firing it while keeping intense eye contact with me. The sound of the gun going off filled the restaurant until it was replaced by people screaming around me. I prayed it wasn't anything bad but watching the panic on the mans face as he ran off made me think otherwise.
"Robby!" I heard Y/N as she stood up from her seat. Turning around to face her, my head became dizzy as my hands covered my stomach, in hopes cover the blood. Swaying side to side, my vision became double as I fell to the floor, hitting the back of my head as I reached the hard ground. "No!" Y/N screamed as I heard her running over to me, pain rushing through me as a tear rolled down my cheek. Collapsing on to the ground next to me, I watched as tears rolled down Y/N's fair skin, regret filling me up inside. Quickly taking off her jacket, I watched as she rolled it up and placed it on the gun shot wound. "Oh Robby," she whispered making my stomach become empty from seeing her reaction. "Someone call an ambulance!" I heard Y/N scream as I watched people scram for their phones through a blur. "Come on, Robby. Stay with me," Y/N said, gently tapping her hand on my face in efforts to keep my eyes open. That's when I knew I wouldn't make it out. Looking to Y/N, my heart grew heavy at thought of leaving her alone but I knew I had to be strong...for the both of us.
"I-it's okay...Y/N," I said with a struggled as I watched Y/N shake her head, some of her tears falling on to my clothes.
"No, no, no. It's not okay, Robby. I can't-I can't lose you," She said, applying more pressure on my wound.
"Y/N, I-I was going to tell...I was going to tell you that I-that I love you," I finally said quietly, my eyes closing slightly as they became too heavy to keep open the full way. Gently moving my tongue in my mouth, the familiar taste of iron filled my taste buds making a few more tears escape.
"I love you too, Robby. I always have," Y/N responded making joy fill me up for what would be the last time.
"That's-that's good," I said with a smile of my own as Y/N chuckled lightly. Taking my last breath, my chest grew tight, as numbing sensation started from my feet and quickly moved up my body. My ears listened slightly at the sound of an ambulance coming, but dread took over as it really was too late now. Dropping my hand from my stomach, the tightness in my chest suddenly went away, and I was gone.
