After Crowley mentioned Cas as he talked to Rowena, Dean left the library promptly and went straight to the kitchen. A little later, Sam followed him and found his brother leaned against the counter with a beer in his hand and a lost look on his face as he staried blankly at the floor in front of him.
– So... - said Sam getting himself a beer – ....is there something you want to talk about?
– No. Not at all.
– Really? – mocked Sam as he sat over the counter beside his brother.
– How come our lives always keep getting weirder and weirder, Sammy?
– I don't have a clue. But there's one thing I know for sure.
Dean rose his head and looked at his brother slightly squinting.
– You and Cas are something else. You do know that, right? Share a more profound bond and all. So, whatever Cas told you, I guess it's something that deep down, in some way, you'd already known.
Interrupting, Sam's phone started buzzing and startled him. By his side, seeming relieved, his brother focused back on his bottle, as the younger Winchester got his phone out of his pocket. Straight away, after he glimpsed the screen, Sam jumped to his feet and answered the call.
– Claire, is everything ok?
Instantly recognizing the name, Dean's shoulders stiffened. At once, he left his beer on the counter and altered his stance resting his weight in both his legs and crossing his arms over his chest as he faced Sam to pay attention to his brother's phone call.
– You tell me. I was taking a well-deserved nap and had the weirdest dream ever. - she answered.
Claire, Jimmy Novak's - a.k.a Castiel deceased vessel - daughter, was wearing her long blond hair in a loose braid over her shoulder and leaning against a low window with dirty curtains - that once were white - behind her. As she talked, she gazed at her own ripped jeans while right across the room, Kaia, sitting on the bed and sipping a purple smoothie, watched her attentively.
– I'm putting you on speaker. – announced Sam - Dean is here.
– Hey, Dean, how are you, old man? - she asked with a smirk.
– I've been better. But what's up with you, kid?
– Right. I'm in California with Kaia. We've been tracking a pack of werewolves for a month. In the end, Scott and his friends were a bunch of very nice people who would never hurt anyone, which was unusual, but kind of cool.
– It's rare, but happens. – said Sam and somehow she could tell by his voice he had a cheeky smile on his face.
– Well, after that, we've headed back to our motel to rest a bit before returning home and as I slept some tall dandy guy in a deep v-neck shirt showed up in my dream and told me he was an angel. He said he was worried about Castiel and I should warn you two about it.
– Did he tell you his name? – babbled Dean.
– Balthazar.
– What else did he tell you? – inquired Sam.
– So you do know this guy? – confirmed Claire now staring at Kaia and raising her eyebrows.
– We do know him. – mumbled Dean.
– I betted Kaia this shit was real. It seems like she's not the only dreamwalker around here anymore. – she teased shaking her shoulders and grinning - Anyway, the Balthazar guy said heaven is locked, no angel can leave it and they can't even hear any prayers. Besides that, he thinks something is wrong with Castiel, but he didn't clarify what he meant. As if it all wasn't weird enough, the last thing he remarked before I woke up was, quoting him: 'There's something outré about the infant new God'. What the hell was he talking about?
