"Having fun?"

Porco drawled, slumping over the back of the seat-clearly bored out of his mind. He didn't like dancing or drinking, which seemed to be the predominant factor in this event.

"It's alright, just mediocre. More stressful than fun, in my opinion. Whose idea was it to host this anyways?"
Porco shrugged.

The soft classical music drifted around the room while drunken higher-ups stumbled and waltzed around. It was nearly midnight, so the ball would be concluding soon.

"Pock, there's someone that's like to meet you," Pieck murmured drowsily, hooking her arm under Porco's and gently dragging him away despite his denial. Reiner stifled a grin and went back to aimlessly swishing the whiskey around his glass.

After enough wallowing in his loneliness, he decided to get up and do something with the night. He perused the room length, politely nodding to the commanders and royal guests.

He made his way out to the balcony and leaned against the railing. The night blanketed Marley thickly, clouds barely visible in the sky.

"Mr Braun?"

Reiner turned his head to meet your gaze. You looked around his age, dressed appropriately for the event with a wine-red dress curling in ruffles around your ankles. You had a gorgeous face with an onyx choker complimenting the accents in your outfit.

"Do you need something?" he cleared his throat, pulling at his collar. You smiled sweetly.

"I've just heard so many good things about you from the commanding unit, and I've come here to see if the rumours are true," you purred, hoping that your request wouldn't too catch him off guard. He felt his lips turning up in a slight grin.

"I wouldn't get caught up on those phoney words. I'm just as special as any other warrior," he scoffed sarcastically.

"Well, you certainly have a different tone to you. Care to dance?" you outstretched your hand to him. He delicately entwined his fingers within yours and began to waltz to the dulled music from inside the hall slowly.

"I never caught your name, by the way," he spoke lowly, careful not to step on her feet as they danced.

"It's Y/N L/N. A pleasure to meet you." you pressed your head against his chest gently.

You still danced even after the music died out and the ending preparations started up. Eventually, you bid him farewell, commenting on how you'd love to see him again.

Even after your presence had long gone, Reiner was still caught up over it.

"Y/N, how pretty," he cooed softly to himself.
