" constellations connect the universe . "

; a god au where
you, a mortal
meets the
goddess of
life

----------

The rules for mortals are clear; respect the gods.
Even if you disagree with their ideals.

You were normal; there was nothing special about you. You were a simple mortal, who never stepped out of line, and always kept to yourself, tending to your issues alone.

While your family was known throughout the kingdom for their bravery and passion for war and fighting, you preferred reading over battle training.

You wanted peace.

"Could you at least try it out? Father wants us to get you to do something other than read your silly tales," your younger brother whined, tugging at your sleeve desperately. He was only in this for the extra free time after chores. He could care less if you did training or not.

"For the last time, no. Leave me be." you snapped your book shut and pushed past your brother, briskly heading to the wheat fields where you wouldn't be bothered.

There you sat, nestled in the branches of a low-lying tree, trying to take your mind away from your family's plans for you.

"Bored?"

A kind voice startled you into dropping her book into the grass. You looked over to see a girl around your age dressed in a finely woven silk dress with a flower crown and lace headdress.
Her eyes were a stunning blue to compliment her blonde hair falling below her shoulders.

"I'm, um, yes. I'm just trying to escape my family for the day, y'know?" you slid down the tree and went to retrieve your book.

As you bent down to pick it up, your fingers brushed against the girl's as you both placed your hands on the cover. You looked up and realised how much the girl looked like a goddess, her features, her kindness, just everything about her. she was absolute perfection.

"Oh, sorry!" the girl drew her hand from the book and let you pick it up, clasping her hands together and smiling. Even her smile seemed like it could melt anyone's heart, and it certainly worked.

You spent the rest of the afternoon together, leaning against the tree and talking about your pasts, bonding.

"So, what's your name?" you asked, your eyes glimmering with curiosity.

"Krista, Krista Lens, I live in the southern district!" this surprised you, as the people in the south were rather selfish and known to be violent towards outsiders. This girl broke societal standards by a long stride, and you were alike in that manner.

"You have a beautiful name."

Krista beamed at the compliment. she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and looked down at the grass.

"There's something about you," Krista murmured to herself quietly. You looked up at her, confused.

"Hm?" you raised an eyebrow and leaned on your knees. Krista jolted at the realisation that you could hear her.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was talking to myself about possibly meeting here again sometime soon! You're easy to talk to!" Krista laughed nervously.

"Oh, okay! Well, anytime you want to talk, I can find a way to get out," you bit your tongue, hoping that if Krista agreed that her parents wouldn't be too mad.

"Really? If it's alright, could you meet me here at eight o'clock tonight? I wanted to explain something to you," she offered, her eyes twinkling with anticipation and joy. You felt your cheeks heat up slightly as she gazed at you.

"Of course," you responded with a smile.

"Really? Thank you so much!" Krista exclaimed, grabbing your hands and laughing.

Later that night, as promised, you snuck out your bedroom window after dinner and headed back to the moors with an odd feeling in your chest.

"You came!" Krista sat in the tree, her legs curled around the branch and her hair loosely flowing in the evening wind.

"I'd be rude not to," you smiled, climbing up onto the branch next to her.

"So anyways, what did you want to explain?"

Krista smiled.

"It's less explain than show you."

She brushed her hair away from her face and gently placed her hand on the tree's trunk. A tiny wisp of light transferred from her palm into the tree, causing it to erupt in flower blossoms and little strings of light energy. Your mouth dropped open. Your suspicions were correct;

Krista was a goddess.

"S-Should I bow?" you began to panic, wondering if you'd acted correctly around her and if you'd be punished for anything you'd done in the past.

"There's no need for that," Krista giggled, drawing her hand from the tree. You still sat in awe that you'd been talking with a literal goddess; it was something only a few people in the kingdom had experienced.

"Oh! And since you know about my secret, you should probably know my true name."

She looked up at the stars and smiled briefly.

"My name's Historia. I'm the goddess of life."
