" cheaters are the dirt of the earth . "
; you ruin your
relationship with
erwin after a
petty argument----------
"Please, Y/N. I know it was wrong of me to ask. I needed someone to lead the mission," Erwin pleaded, his face in his hands.
"Erwin, I watched our men die out there because of your recklessness. This could've been avoided; those men could've gone back home to their families." you were in distress, wholly dishevelled and scarred from watching your friends be murdered before your eyes.
"Y/N, listen to me-"
"No, I'm done. I'm sorry, I need to go now. We'll talk
about this another time." you nodded politely to him and pushed your chair back, walking out the door. You didn't hate Erwin. It was so far from that. You adored him; you did love him so much. You had been in a relationship with him for three years, coming up in the fall.
But the only thing was, Erwin and your personalities' clashed. You preferred to plan things out, always to be prepared no matter what, but he wanted to do what he believed to be the right thing for humanity, which got so many men killed.
Too many. You couldn't bash him too much for what he did, however, because you also did something unforgivable.
You cheated.
Your affair had been going on for a few months with a man from the interior police. He had a kind heart, and he didn't know that you were already in a relationship. You wanted to keep it that way.
The man, Hans Schwartz, focused more on you and loved you more, and you felt that you belonged with him more. Erwin tried to pay as much attention to you as he could, but as a commander, it wasn't much. You felt under-appreciated.
Hans made you feel whole again, more than Erwin ever could.
But secrets can't stay secret forever.
...
"Y/N. Erwin wants to see you in his office now," Levi commanded as he walked past, not making eye contact with you. Your heart dropped in your chest. You watched as Levi walked away, still not turning back or acknowledging you. Now the regret started to set in.
"I assume you know why I've called you in here. Take a seat." Erwin's voice was hoarse and nonchalant. His eyes were red, and his eyebrows knitted together.
He'd been crying.
Never in the seven years that you'd known him had you ever seen him cry. he didn't seem like the kind of person to do that. Yet here he was, vulnerable and devastated, all because of you.
"I'm not mad." he kept eye contact with you, and the corners of his lips turned up in a pained smile.
"I know I haven't been able to spend much time with you or focus on you. Being a commander is stressful, and I completely understand what you did. As long as you're happy." he wiped his eyes and looked down at his desk.
"Erwin, I-"
"You don't have to explain," he interrupted.
"Hans told me everything."
You felt embarrassed now, knowing that in the same manner, you were being lied to as well. You deserved it, though.
"Erwin, I'm sorry, I am. I can make it up to you. It was wrong of me to do," you pleaded, leaning on his desk and gazing at him.
"No, I apologise. I can't do this again; we both know the outcome. And I understand anyways."
"You understand what?"
"That I'll never be enough for you."
