CHAPTER TEN:
Having troubles because of some Mary or Merry
Harriden City General Hospital
'Perv Drunkard?!'
'Witch?!'
'Why are you calling my sister like that?!' Lucy yelled as she punches Warren, aiming at his gut.
'Woah! Ow!' Warren exclaimed as he tried to dodge her small fist but failed. He gasped before he spoke again. 'Lil girl, she's your sister?' He asked.
'Yeah. And you're rude!' She answered as she crossed her arms.
'I'm sorry. Okay.' He replied, raising his arms in surrender. But when he looked at Merry, he turned speechless.
'Uhm. Excuse me. Lucy, come here a sec.'
The little girl followed Merry without question. The moment they gained distance from Warren, Merry kneeled to level her eyes with Lucy. The little girl looked at her innocently.
'Where is mom? Are you okay?' Merry asked in concern.
'Mom was inside that room. The doctor won't let us in.' Lucy replied, pointing to the door beside the wall where Warren was leaning.
Merry nodded, forcing herself not to cry in front of her sister. She tried to keep it all in.
'Just breathe, Merry.' She reminded herself.
Merry was silent when she sat beside Lucy.
'Lucy, how did you meet this man? Where's mom?' She asked Lucy.
'I met him because he came to our house.'
Merry gasped in shock 'What?!'
Lucy nodded to confirm it was true.
'Uhm. Who is the guardian of Mrs. Weaver?' the doctor looked at Warren and Merry.
'Me, Doctor.' Merry raised her hand, ran towards the door to see her mother from the small window. 'How is she?'
The doctor's face looked serious. 'Your mother is stable. But we still have to run more tests. We will just wait 'till she wakes up. You can come in.' He said, gesturing to the door.
Merry released a heavy breath like she was breathing for the first time. 'T-thanks, Doctor.' Merry said in gratitude, fighting the urge to cry in front of him.
The doctor smiled at her, then returned to his usually serious face.
Merry carefully went inside the room. Pale. That's what the first word she thought when she saw her mother lying on the bed. At that moment, she found a new meaning for the word "Pale". Pale like a sick person. Pale. Like death was slowly sucking up to her life. It is how she looked like. But she hoped it wouldn't turn out like that. She hoped and prayed.
'Mom. Please, don't leave us yet. Please fight for us.' She whispered, holding her mother's cold hand.
She knew she sounded selfish, but it was all she could ask for. She breathes heavily while crying. Suddenly, she felt something warm coming from the back enveloped around her.
'Just cry. I'm here now.' Colt's voice made her cry even more.
Merry thought that she might be dreaming. But when she turned around, she saw Colt on a black leather jacket.
'Sorry, I was caught in the traffic.' He said, looking worried.
'It's okay. I should be the one who should apologize. Sorry to bother you.' She while she was still crying.
