CHAPTER SIX:

Finding the value of 'x and y' or 'your ex and why'

Welton INC. Main Office

Harriden City

Meanwhile, Warren was yawning as he sat on the long table in the conference room. He was wondering why the marketing team was so late to start their presentation. He massaged his own temples as he leaned on the chair. Ed, his secretary, noticed that he was getting more and more impatient.

'What's taking you so long?' His voice echoed the room that made the team leader jolt while dragging the mouse.

'W- we're having some troubles in the files, Sir Welton.' The marketing team's manager said. 'We will try to fi-figure out what is wrong-'

He looked up at the marketing team's manager 'Well, hurry up. You're wasting my precious time.' Warren answered coldly.

'I will try to figure out what is wrong, Sir.' Ed said as he started to take a step.

The moment Ed took a step towards the problematic marketing team, the door opened and a woman rushed inside. Ed stood there like he was hit by a freeze gun. He only came back to his senses when the woman bumped unto him.

'Sam? Are you okay?' Ed asked with his concerned eyes.

'She looked tired?' He observed as his brows creased.

Sam glanced up towards the person she bumped into. She looked surprised when she saw who it was. 'Y-yeah, I am. Thanks.' She replied abruptly, then she rushed to her teammates, who expected her to be early.

'Ed, are you going to help them or not?' Warren asked, looking impatient.

'Uh- Uhm. Yeah, but-' Ed's eyes shifted towards Sam, then to his boss. 'I think they figured out already the problem, Sir.' He said then he returned to his position beside Warren.

'Guys, I'm sorry. Here's the presentation.' Sam said as she try to catch her breath. 'Damn that traffic.' She cursed inside her mind.

Martin, the team manager glared at her. 'You still haven't found a full-time nanny.' He said and it wasn't a question. He sighed as he violently grabbed the flash drive from her hands. 'We will talk later.' Martin said, trying to control his temper.

Sam wants to say that it was the traffic, but she won't catch the traffic if she won't travel at noon. They knew finding a full-time nanny was her problem. The main reason why she was always late. Sam would wonder why she was not fired by their boss yet because of her tardiness.

Ed would glance in Sam's direction, who's now looking down on one corner after their team manager scolded her.

After the meeting, Ed saw Sam at the office kitchen staring blankly into space then sighs heavily every after five minutes. When Sam saw him it made her come back to her senses.

'You okay?' Ed asked, looking at her with concerned eyes.

Sam's brows furrowed and surprised with his concern before she realized she had to respond. 'Yeah. I-I'm okay.'

'Clearly, you are not.' He stated it like a fact as he took a paper cup.

'Then why are you asking?' Sam thought.

'Never mind me. It's not my day today.' She replied as she stirred the coffee with sugar.

Ed stared at the tray contained with paper cups filled with coffee. 'Is she making coffee for the whole marketing team?' He thought.
