CHAPTER SEVEN:

Rock-a-bye Warren on the treetop

Welton INC. Main Office

Harriden City

Karina entered her son's office. The moment Warren noticed her presence he stood on his feet to meet his mother.

'Mom, I didn't know you were coming.' He said, then he kissed his mother's cheek.

'Oh, son. I know you were busy. I am sorry to barge in here without telling you beforehand.' Karina said while feeling apologetic.

Warren shook his head and grinned. 'Mom, it's okay. I was just surprised.' He said as he guided her to the seat. 'You want something to eat or perhaps a drink?'

'No, thanks. I don't want to delay you with your work. I had something to discuss with you.' Karina said.

'The fact that you have to come here personally I can tell that it seems to be important, Mom.'

'Yes, son. It's- Karina paused and closed her eyes as she sighed. 'It's about Ms. Levinson.'

'What's with that old woman, who talked behind me with my secretary?' Warren said as he pressed the intercom as a gag so that Ed would hear.

The intercom was supposed to be used to communicate his orders or for some important matters related to work, but to Warren, it was also used for other things such as these. Like what Ed would always do in these nonsensical situations, he ignored his boss and continued with his work.

'Ms. Levinson resigned.'

'What?! Why didn't tell me that she was about to resign?'

'She submitted her resignation letter to me yesterday.'

'What?! How could she just leave us like that?'

'I know it was so sudden, but Ms. Levinson was aged and wanted relaxation. She told me that she wants to travel and look for someone.'

'Someone?' He said as he turned to her mother. 'Who? I will find whoever that is.'

'Warren, I know that Ms. Levinson was like a grandmother to you. I don't want her to leave as well but please let the old lady decide for herself. She was very determined to resign and it seems that nothing could ever change her mind.' Karina explained.

He rolled his eyes in annoyance. 'But we can't just find a replacement right away.' He argued.

'Yes, that's why we will hire a new one and Ms. Levinson agreed that she will train her replacement before she leaves.'

'So, you have it planned already and I don't have a say on this. I get it.'

'Warren, you don't understand. I know it's hard for you. It was hard for Ms. Levinson to leave us too.'

'Whatever, mom. Suit yourself. If Ms. Levinson wants to leave, so be it. I don't care anymore.'

'Son, don't be selfish. Ms. Levinson had to find her lost son that's why she had to resign.'

'She had a lost son? Then we will find his son for her. That way she didn't have to waste some of her time and effort. We could hire a private detective.'

'Do you think I didn't offer her that? She said that we don't have to. Right now, she only wishes to retire and live a peaceful life with his son before she dies. She was hoping you would understand that, son.'

Warren tried to open his mouth but he couldn't say a thing. He let out a heavy breath. Karina stood from where he was seated and kissed his cheek to say goodbye.
