Days of rough seas and winds passed us by. I stayed quiet about my dream and I no longer wished to sleep. The vision forever implemented in my mind of the blue-eyed woman with wings. She hovered above me and cast a large shadow of dread.

Rekkr walked over to me and draped his arms around my shoulders, "Do you suppose we're lost?"

I nodded with a smile, "Most likely."

"Why are you smiling then?"

My head turned to meet my son, "Because the gods are with your uncle, they are with all of your uncles including Harald. They bless us." I turned back to the sea, "I have no doubt in my mind that it is all for a reason."

My eyes wandered across the leading ships. Bjorn studied his map alongside Rollo. Harald and Halfdan whispered vigorously together. My husband often told of his brother's plans to someday overthrow me and my family. Halfdan never agreed with it of course but I convinced him to help his brother discreetly so I would know his every move. Halfdan always assured me that no harm would ever come to me or my sons.

Frodi walked over to my side and I smiled sweetly at the one-armed man, "We are almost out of water and food."

My sigh deepened, "That might be an issue." I scanned my brother's ship, "Let's pray we find land soon. And hope to the gods we don't all die out here."

The man chuckled, "My daughter is very intrigued by you. Ever since she was little she's adored you."

"What happened to your wife?" I questioned.

Frodi smirked at my question as he looked down into the water, "When Hildr was born, she was our only child. We were too old to be having children in the first place but the gods blessed us." His eyes drifted over to his daughter, "My wife died in childbirth. She never had a mother to teach her to be a woman. I am struck by how far she's come on her own."

I lifted my hand onto his shoulder, "She's had a father who showed her what love is. And to me, that is all that matters."

The man's lips turned up in the sky. His one arm clasped my shoulder and from afar he pointed to the light. The sky was dark and I saw the floating embers rise from inside large gates. There was a large palace tower visible and torches lit the area.

My eyes drifted over to Bjorn and we shared a knowing look. We pulled into the dock quietly and I hopped off of the boat and helped others off with me. Halfdan and I walked over to each other and pulled out weapons. Halfdan held up my shield in front of me and patted it.

We both turned around to look at Rekkr. Halfdan held Rekkr's face in his hands and smiled, "I am proud of you, my boy." They smiled and Rekkr nodded, "You keep your eyes open, and if death happens to come, accept it and embrace it."
