"Chelsie," The girl groaned. "I don't want to go to the party. There are going to be drunk people everywhere."
"Oh, come on Amber. It will be fun." Chelsie said holding out a pink sparkly dress.
"I don't want too." Amber spat looking at the dress with disgust.
"Amber you are coming. You are not staying here and reading your silly books."
"They're not silly! And Tavi is very nice to me." Amber shouted in outrage.
"Who's Tavi?" Chelsie asked.
"He's a boy from the book series that I am reading."
"This is exactly my point. You need to get out and away from your books. You're not adventurous enough." Amber snatched the dress from Chelsie.
"You owe me." Amber hissed, before walking into the bathroom and shutting the door behind her. A few minutes later she walked out wearing the dress and some black sneakers.
"Don't you dare say a word about my shoes or my makeup that I'm not wearing. I am wearing the dress and going to the party. Don't push." Amber snapped looking at her sister.
"Fine." Chelsie huffed. She grabbed Amber's hand and led her to the car.
They drove up a drive way and Amber whistled.
"You didn't tell me that the party is at mansion." She accused. Chelsie parked the car and they got out. Chelsie stumbled in her really high heels and a guy caught her. He held onto her arm too long and Amber snapped at him to go away. He winked to Chelsie and walked away.
"Why did you do that?" Chelsie asked as they walked up to the mansion.
"'Cause we aren't even to the party yet." Amber said knocking on the huge oak door.
"Well, hello there." Flirted the guy who opened the door giving the two girls a once over.
"Hi." Giggled Chelsie.
"Crows, you're embarrassing." Muttered Amber.
"And who is this?" The dude asked looking at Amber in a lustful way.
"This is Amber." Chelsie said.
"Dude! Nick! Come check out some of these chicks!" Shouted a voice from inside.
"Oh, don't worry. I am." Nick muttered looking at Amber still.
"Can we, like, come in?" She prompted him and earned a glare from Chelsie.
"Oh, yeah. Come in." Nick smiled moving out of the way to let he girls in.
"Chelsie!" Squealed some girls waving.
"Be careful sis." Amber warned as Chelsie ran off. Amber turned to see Nick still staring at her. "What?" She snapped. Amber flipped her red hair over her shoulder and walked off in search of water.
"Amber! Hey, Amber!" Amber turned and saw her best friend, Tommy.
"Tommy!" Amber shouted with glee giving him a huge hug.
"How's college?" Tommy asked pulling away.
"Same ol, same ol." Amber said with a shrug. Tommy laughed. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm doing good." He replied leading Amber over to a couch.
"Hi, Merlyn." Gushed a blond girl in a hooker outfit and too much make up. She moved to sit on his lap.
"Hey, Dear. He's not looking for temporary companionship." Amber hissed to the girl. Tommy choked on his glass of wine. The girl ran off like a dog with her tail between her legs.
"My goodness Amber. That was awesome!" Tommy laughed.
"Oh my gosh! I love this song!" Amber squealed as #Selfie by the Chainsmokers started blaring over the speakers. "Come on Tommy. Dance with me." She whined grabbing Tommy's hand and pulling him to the dance floor. Amber started to dance to the song and people started to gape and gather around her. She was dancing with her eyes closed so she didn't notice the crowd that she was attracting. The song finished and she opened her eyes to an almost quiet and stunned room.
"Ummm..." She blushed. Everybody started clapping and hooting. Tommy pulled her out of the crowd that was beginning to suffocate her.
"When did you learn to dance like that?" Tommy asked in an astonished voice.
"I've always been able to. I just feel the beat run through my veins and I move with it." Amber murmured.
"I didn't know that human bodies could move like that." Tommy said.
"I want to go home." Amber whispered to Tommy. Tommy nodded.
"One moment. I'll be right back." Tommy hurried off his wine glass empty. Sighing, Amber stood by the door to wait. Arms wrapped around her mouth and arms. She was dragged outside and flung to the gravel. Amber grunted and stood up to face her attacker. It was the hooker from before with a couple of friends.
"Hey, Bitch." The girl sneered.
"I didn't know that goblins were still around. What a pleasant surprise." Amber retorted. Two girls advanced on Amber and she held her fists up in a fighting stance. Her fist flew out and the first girl went down. She kicked the second girl in the side of the knee. The first hooker came at Amber with a yell. Amber moved around the girl and swiped her feet out from beneath her. The girl crashed to the gravel on her back. Amber climbed on top of her. She placed her knee on the girl's chest and pinned her arms to her side.
"Don't ever come near me or Tommy again. You hear, Bitch?" Amber hissed her red hair falling into her face. The girl nodded and Amber got up.
"Interesting." Said a deep male voice. Shit, Amber thought as she turned to see Mr. Merlyn.
"Um... Thanks?" Amber said shuffling her feet.
"Hey Amber..." Tommy started to say as he walked out of the house. He stopped when he saw his father.
"Dad." He said. Tension filled the air.
"Tommy you were taking me home, right?" Amber whispered breaking the silence. Both of the Merlyn's looked at her and she gulped and backed away.
"Yeah, I was." Tommy nodded.
"Come with me Amber. I'm not sure that my son is capable of driving safely at this time." Mr. Merlyn said. Amber opened her mouth to protest. "I insist." He hissed. Amber nodded nervously. Tommy walked up behind her and wrapped an arm around her waist. They both followed Mr. Merlyn to a sleek black limo. The driver opened the door and they climbed in. Tommy sat next to Amber and his father sat across from them. The ride back to Amber's house was silent and uncomfortable. She kept her eyes on her lap as the two Merlyn's glared at each other. Tommy hadn't removed his arm from her waist. The limo stopped and Amber got out of the car followed by Tommy.
"Thank you Mr. Merlyn." Amber said with a shy smile.
"Anytime." He replied. Tommy walked Amber up to her door.
"Thank you Tommy for taking me home." Amber said. Tommy blushed and Amber gave him a peck on the cheek before walking into her house. Tommy touched his cheek where she had kissed him and smiled.
Amber watched from her bedroom window as Tommy left in the limo. She decided to get a shower and did so. She got out of the shower and climbed into bed not bothering with putting on anything more than a bra and undies. She fell asleep with a smile on her face.
