“Amber! Amber! Get up, we have to go.” Yelled Chelsie. Amber groaned and got out of bed. Her phone buzzed.
Want to go to breakfast? Tommy asked.
Yeah! Amber texted back.
Meet you in front of your house in 10 minutes. Tommy replied.
No! meet me one block down. She texted and then hurried to get dressed. Ten minutes later a limo pulled up in front of her. She smiled and the driver opened the door.
“Thank you.” She said with a nod of her head. He smiled at her. The first thing she realized was that Tommy wasn’t the only one in the car. A woman and Mr. Merlyn were also in the car.
“Amber, this is Mrs. Queen.” Tommy introduced nodding to the woman. Amber smiled and shook the woman’s hand.
“It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Queen.” She said.
“It is nice to meet you too Amber.” Mrs. Queen smiled.
“It’s good to see you again Mr. Merlyn.” Amber said with a smile. He nodded to her. The rest of the ride consisted of her and Mrs. Queen talking.
“We’re here.” Announced the driver opening the door. Everybody piled out. Amber gasped looking at the fancy restaurant before her. She looked down at her Transformers T-shirt and ripped jeans.
“I’m so sorry that I’m not dressed appropriately. I thought that it would be just me and Tommy and he would take me to Starbucks.” Amber rambled her face beet red.
“You look fine Amber.” Tommy assured her putting an arm around her waist and leading her into the restaurant.
“The other member of your party is already here.” The waiter said looking at Amber for a long time. She wasn’t sure if it was because of her clothes or other reasons. Tommy cleared his throat and glared at the waiter. “This way.” The waiter led them to a room with a nice table. A girl was already there at the table. She looked up from her phone at them as we walked in. Amber sat next to the girl and held out her hand.
“Hi. I’m Amber.” She said.
“Thea.” The girl said shaking her hand. “You were at that party last night right?”
“Yeah. I was.” Amber replied with a smile.
“You can really dance.” Thea said.
“Thanks.” Amber and Thea talked as they ate. Halfway through it Mrs. Queen got a call. She excused herself and answered it. Her eyes filled with tears and her face turned white. Amber got up and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Mrs. Queen.” She whispered as Mrs. Queen hung up the phone. “Are you okay?”
“Mom?” Asked Thea. Mrs. Queen swallowed.
“Oliver… He’s been found… Alive.” She said. Tommy’s face changed into a look of wonder and Thea looked torn between amazement and breaking down. Mr. Merlyn had no reaction besides lifting his eyebrows. Amber looked around at the people around her in confusion.
“We’ll drive you wherever you need to go.” Mr. Merlyn offered. Mrs. Queen nodded and they left. Amber stayed back to grab her toast and shove her mouth full of the rest of her eggs, before hurrying after them. They drove to the hospital, the air full of excitement.
“Talk to you later.” Amber said handing Thea her number.
“Definitely.” Thea said with a smile.
