XENA'S POV CHAPTER ONE"race for me tonight." tobios voice echoed through the speakers of the facetime call, his statement nearly making me stab myself in the eye with the eyeliner i was currently applying to my lower lash line. "excuse me?" i was taken aback, leaning further into the squishy chair i was sitting on, giving kags my full attention.
"you still race right?" my tongue clicked on the roof of my mouth before responding to his question. "yeah." i furrowed my brows as in a 'isn't it obvious' face. a grim smile grew onto his lips, and he stared at me through the phone.
"win my race tonight." he repeated himself once again, waiting for me to respond as he began spinning in his chair. "why can't you do it?" my nose scrunched up, taking a few glances back and forth from the mirror ahead of me and my phone that was currently propped up on a water bottle.
"i fucked up my ankle." his voice lowered, my head spun to meet the camera to see his head hanging low. "tobio, mind telling me what you actually did?" the sound of a pencil hitting the desk echoed through my side of the call as i dropped the chocolate eyeliner pencil, resting my head in my right hand to give him my full and utter attention.
i was intrigued to see what he had done this time, maybe it wasn't as dumb as the rest of the excuses he pulled out of his ass. "zee, it's fine, hinata and i were just messing around." he exhaled rather quickly, avoiding eye contact with me as his dark blue eyes searched the room.
"you know i can tell when you lie to me right tobio kageyama? we are cousins afterall." i leaned back in my chair, placing my hands in front of me in my lap, intertwining my fingers as i watched him playfully roll his eyes. "spill now." i lightly provoked in order for him to get on with whatever he had to tell me, but was hiding for some odd reason i couldn't come to mind about.
"uhm well, i had something to take care of and got hurt in the process, anyways do you agree? cause i seriously can't trust anyone more than you to win this." he switched the subject in the middle of the sentence suspiciously. "kags you sound like you're in a damn gang talking like that." i lightly chuckled at how weird that sounded coming out.
i was laughing until i saw the look on his face after i had said that. the look of pure angst splattered across his face, it was then that i found something out that i probably shouldn't know. It was almost as if someone took the all of the poor boys milk away.
"you're not, right?" the look on his face gave it all away, his facial expression changed from angst to guilt. "for who? how did you get into this?" he seemed to be taken back from my bombording of questions. before more flooded my mind, he cut me off.
"it's the only way i could still race and maintain money for my parents and schooling." he mumbled quietly, looking down at something out of the camera view. he was trying to close himself off, i seen it all in his face-- the look in his eyes-- he was nervous.
"what're you saying kags?" i questioned, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion, my lips in a fine line as i awaited whatever would leave his mouth next. "i'm in the mafia." my eyes wided immediately and my mouth slightly hung agape.
"excuse me?" he looked up at the camera, now meeting my eyes. "the karasuno mafia," he repeated himself, the words effortlessly gliding off his tongue, it confused me. i tilted my head to the right, indicating to him that i've never heard of it.
"you need to race for me tonight, there will be other mafias there but i'll give you my jacket, text me when you get there." he shoved the information my way in a hurry, he sighed in what i could assume was relief. relief that i had known, i was most likely the only person to know besides the other gang members.
