new years eve

there were strings lights hanging from the ceiling and confetti across the entire apartment floor. drinks were being poured early on into the night and the music was loud enough to be felt in their chest with every hit of the bass. everything made it seem like a crazy party, even though it was just the seven of them there tonight.

"so what movie did you guys end up watching?" jimin asked the couple. the younger had his arm around the one beside him, dark eyes glancing over as he spoke up over the music playing, "we watched perks of being a wallflower." taehyung told him. "i cried a lot and jungkook cried too." he said it matter of factly.

"i cried like a baby bird." jungkook said, a couple drinks in already, "i wasnt even crying i was just sitting watching with tears streaming out of my eyes, but i wasnt crying you know. i wasnt sobbing, i had a straight face with tears coming out of my eyes."

"thats crying babe." taehyung told him.

jungkook was probably going to argue again about how he wasnt actually crying, but someone spoke sooner. it was jin in the kitchen needing help, "someone get the olives for these martinis please." he said. "i got it." jungkook got up from the stool and headed straight for the cabinet he knew they were in.

"i thought he'd be drunker by now." jimin admitted, the two of them watching as jungkook actually got the olives and not something else on accident.

the ravenette walked over to his hyung and started to help. "im having trouble opening this jar." he pouted down at the olives.

"thats because its a can." jin told him.

"oh." jungkook said, watching as jin took it from him and spent less than ten seconds opening it and pouring the little olives into a glass dish. jin finished up making the drinks, knowing what everyone each wanted and having them lined up in an array of different glasses of varying heights and colors. "three olives for jimin." he said, plopping them into the martini and then standing back.

"okay everyone gather around." jin clapped his hands and someone politely lowered the music. "its time to celebrate, and be thankful in our last minutes of this year." he said.

the other came to the kitchen now too, each grabbing a drink and looking towards the eldest for his usual mini speeches. "someone else talk, im not doing everything tonight." jin said, sticking an olive on his tongue. "i'll do it!" jungkook offered.

"no baby come here." taehyung said, holding his hand out and waiting for his boyfriend to come over and sit with him. jungkook pouted, but he did as he was told and made sure to bring both their drinks with him.

namjoon cleared his throat and stood up. "well i have some things to say i guess." he started to speak, "this year has been tough, as all years seem to be. but we stuck it through and picked up some strangers along the way that aren't that strange anymore." he looked over at the ravenette who smiled small at that. "i think the group of people around me tonight is a good one, and im grateful for that, for my boyfriend, and i look forward to this new year with all of you."

it was a pretty damn good speech that no one would follow. they didnt need to, since everything seemed to be said in a few sentences. jin smiled at his boyfriend and nodded, "cheers to that." he held up his drink and everyone else followed suit.

glasses clinked and smiled showed as the seconds ticked away and the new year came. the quietness didnt last as they sipped their drinks, not when midnight struck and the boys all cheered to celebrate.

jungkook hugged the boy beside him, bringing his hand up to cup taehyungs cheek, "happy new year." he whispered softly, pecking taehyungs mouth with a kiss that was just as soft.

"happy new year." taehyung said against the youngers mouth. he hugged him back and they didnt seem to let go until jimin cranked the music again, "lets get this party started!" the small blonde yelled.

the fact that it was holiday is probably why they could get away with the loudness of it all. in reality, no one was sober enough to care. jungkook kissed his boyfriend again and pulled him up to dance in the living room. their hands roamed and hips moved together, some kisses being shared between beats and breaks needed for more drinks.

jungkook held onto taehyungs hand the entire night, following him around from the kitchen to the living room and soon onto the couch. he had his head on the olders lap, closing his eyes as taehyung played with his hair.

it was a couple hours into the new years and some of them were getting off their energetic high and the exhaustion was starting to hit. "are you falling asleep on me?" taehyung looked down and smiled, still playing with the boys hair and watching as his breathing slowed.

"no." jungkooks eyes were still closed, and he was very unconvincing.

"we can go to bed, come one." taehyung nudged him to get him to move, but jungkook just shook his head now and turned to hide his face in taehyungs stomach. "play with my hair and call me pretty," he mumbled against the fabric of taehyungs shirt.

the brunette giggled a little at how cute the younger was. taehyung did as he was told, playing with jungkooks hair and even closing his own eyes as he relaxed. he knew jungkook was falling asleep, but it was okay. the boy was comfortable and tired, he needed to rest and his body was telling him so.

taehyung stayed there until he knew jungkook was asleep, but he didnt stop gently running his fingers through the boys hair yet, in case he stirred or woke up. taehyung would play with his hair everynight, he could call him pretty and always make sure jungkook was happy ⏤ because thats what you do when you love someone, and taehyung wanted to make sure jungkook knew he was loved, every day and every night, for the rest of their lives together.
