That night, Ji Eun lays in bed restless. Near her Jungkook is sound asleep, his arm is around her waist in a tight embrace.
She can't remember a single detail about the east wing that stood out to her.
She needed to speak to Jimin, but where was he?
🌸
When she wakes that morning she finds herself alone in bed.
After having a bath, she finds Jungkook in the garden, eating breakfast.
He smiles upon seeing her and hands her a rose.
"I'm sorry about yesterday" he meets her eyes sincerely.
"I shouldn't have reacted like that. It's just I was reminded of Mina when I saw how close the two of you looked".
What?
"Jimin was close to Mina, when she passed he didn't take it well. He seems to take a liking to you though, you must remind him of her".
Well of course we're related after all she thinks to herself.
"Where is he now?"
"He's in the dungeons, left him there to cool down. He'll be fine".
"Why was he reacting like that towards you?"
"I told you, he hasn't been the same since his father passed. Once in a while his emotions will get the best of him and he'll have an episode. Other than that he's harmless".
A silence falls over them as Jungkook continues munching away at some sliced fruits.
"If I may ask, where is Mina buried?"
He freezes mid-way of picking up a strawberry and looks into her eyes.
She tries her best not to shrink back.
"She's buried in the royal cemetery about a mile from here".
"Ah, I see".
She would have to visit her soon.
"If you'd like, we can visit together one day" he smiles albeit sadly.
"Of course, whenever you're ready".
The rest of the day goes by in a daze. She spends it with Jungkook who walks her around the entire palace. Showing her his favorite spots in the library and recommending her books to read.
He truly was a mystery, going from a feared king to a soft-hearted man in seconds.
When they pass by the empty halls of the east wing she eyes it a bit longer than necessary as he tugs her along.
They visit the kitchen where she's given freshly baked cookies.
They have lunch in the gazebo, fresh flowers sprout around them, their scent is overwhelmingly sweet.
Jungkook makes a crown of flowers for her, placing it atop her head gently. She smiles, leaning forward as he places a kiss upon her forehead.
The sunsets in the distance, glittering in the lake as it slowly dips behind the trees.
Hues of orange and pink melt together in the sky, when he turns to look into her eyes she's captivated by his beauty.
All the while, Jimin's frantic eyes fill her mind the whole time.
Something didn't feel right with his reaction the other day.
Could he be delusional? She thinks as Jungkook holds a hand out towards her. Taking it, they both walk back towards the castle as the night sky blooms forth, tugging along with it the vibrant stars.
