"Y/N, please!"

"No. Why should I?"

"You promised that you'd play in Harry's place whenever he was absent!"

"I meant during the few practices he wouldn't be able to make it cause of his detentions with Umbridge," Y/N shook his head. "I never said I would replace him as the team's indefinite Seeker. Can you drop the matter now, I'm trying to eat."

Ever tough, ever bossy Angelina Johnson looked as though she were about to burst into tears. "You wouldn't be Gryffindor's Seeker forever!" she insisted, in a shaky sort of voice. "It would only be until -"

"Until when?" said Y/N. "Harry's got a permanent ban, Angelina."

Ginny came sliding in out of nowhere, having already finished her breakfast. "He's only banned from now until Umbridge leaves. Professor McGonagall will make sure of that."

"And how can you be sure she'll leave at all?"

"When You-know-who makes himself public, of course."

Y/N let out an irritated sigh. It was Tuesday morning. It had been a while since he had to eat in the Great Hall without the rest of the Quartet. Harry and Ron had woken up and eaten early, taking this time to get some last-minute homework done, and Hermione had marched over to Hagrid's hut as she had been doing for the past few days, trying to convince him not to plan any dangerous lessons.

Y/N had to admire her patience and resolve, as all her arguments, lectures, and warnings had fallen upon deaf ears. Hagrid was more determined than ever to have his first lesson back be his most exciting.

Y/N hadn't been spending his weekend quite the same way. The past few days, rather than being up to anything productive like Hermione, Harry and even Ron, he had been repeatedly attempting to duck out of the sight of the Gryffindor Team. As the team was now three players down, they needed to find replacements, and they started with the best Seeker they knew after Harry.

"Why don't you ask Ginny?" said Y/N, shovelling spoonfuls of cereal into his mouth. "She's a decent Seeker."

"I'm not!" Ginny protested. "I'm awful with patience, I'm never able to find the stupid Snitch!"

"But when you do find it, you're faster than a bullet, and you have a great grip, which means the chances of the Snitch slipping from your fingers is next to nothing. I've seen you play Seeker at the Burrow, you're better than decent."

Ginny seemed to have no counter-argument. In fact, she seemed rather pleased by his praise.

"No offence to Ginny," interrupted Angelina, "but she's not nearly as good as Harry, or you for that matter. She's more built for a Chaser, she's small, fast, and like you said her grip is great, which means she never drops the Quaffle. But seeing as we're not looking for any chasers right now -"

"I don't think you understand what it is you're asking me to do," said Y/N. "You want me to join you for three-hour practice five days a week?"

"Well, it's not like you have anything better to do!" retorted Angelina. "You're never behind on homework, and your magical skill is about two years above your age set, so don't tell me you're having trouble with classes, because it's not true!"

"Of course I have better things to do!"

"Oh yeah? Like what?"

Y/N thought about his little escapades to experiments on the spell he had personally created. Ever since they had discovered the Room of Requirement, he was no longer prowling around the school looking for an empty classroom for his tests. He did it all in the Roon of Requirement, where everything he needed was at arms reach. He couldn't tell Angelina that, though.
