The only tangible few words Sirius Black could have described how he felt as if this moment was utterly pathetic.

Such a failure he was, to go with Dumbledore's orders and ignore his godson. The incredible amount of letters he had been spammed with, each of them dripping with the worry and concern of the traumatised son of James Potter, yet he, Sirius Black, had done nothing in the past few weeks to respond even a fraction of the amount of which he undeniably should've.

A boy consumed with the guilt of fallen comrade, a boy traumatised with the memories many adult men wouldn't be able to bear, a boy spending his days trapped with abusive relatives... and who was doing anything about it?

Not Sirius Black, that was for sure.

And it was all the fault of Albus too-many-effing-middle-names Dumbledore.

At the insistence of the Chief Warlock, and unquestioned head of the newly reorganised Order of the Phoenix, no one ever questioned Harry's mistreatment. No one ever mentioned why Harry was being left out while the entire Weasley family (and what should've been Y/N and Hermione) conspired for his 'safety'.

And why? Why did they turn their heads the other way whilst a child was abused from under their very nose? No clue, of course. After all, no one questioned the word of the great Albus Dumbledore. Forget the scrawny, fourteen year old punching bag at Privet Drive, Albus had an image to maintain here! He was the vanquisher of Grindelwald, damn it!

Sirius gave a dry and bitter laugh.

It was all bullshit. He should've kicked the old man and his self-proclaimed Order of the Phoenix out of his house while he still had the chance.

There was a meeting due today. Reluctantly, Sirius pulled on his robes and brooded over who would be amongst today's guests. Snivellus would no doubt be eager to flaunt his opportunity to work whilst Sirius was stuck trapped in this house. Why Dumbledore kept the greasy git around was anyone's guess.

He met Molly halfway down the stairs, who opened her mouth to speak to him in that familiar disapproving tone of voice, but he brushed past her, not in the mood for her antics. He could practically feel her eyes boreing into him from behind as he walked away.

Before he turned the corner into the meeting room, he saw a glint of red hair shuffle away from him, hiding from his view.

"Not today boys," he said roughly, reaching over and pulling the twins from their hiding place by the scruff of their necks.

"Damn!" cursed George. "We almost got away with it!"

"Nah, Moody would've noticed you trying to spy on the meeting." Sirius said simply, putting them down. "Lucky it was me who caught you rather than someone who'd definitely let your mother know of your shenanigans, and we wouldn't want to stir her up, would we? That'd only awaken my mother."

Fred and George shuddered, their eyes darting towards the corridor of which the portrait of Lady Black resided.

The twins looked a little less like themselves than they usually did today, they weren't offering him any of those infernal sweets of theirs, for one. Nor had they been taking part in any sort of suspicious secret meetings with Mundungus at all today, which was something.

"Spit it out, boys, what's up?"

Fred gave a lazy attempt of his usual impish grin. "Just wanted to get away from our dearest bother for a bit, is all."

"He's been storming around all day," George inputed. "He's apparently angry that Y/N and Hermione haven't shown up like they were supposed to."

"Ickle Ronnie-poo feels lonely," sniggered Fred.
