Eddie sighed as he curled up, morphing from his elemental form to his normal one. He was known to the mortals as the sun-fox. He rose the
sun each morning and laid it to rest each night, while the moon-dog awoke the moon.

Despite having worked together for centuries upon centuries, Eddie had
never met his coworker, the moon-dog. The other god that worked
effortlessly alongside him to ensure that each day, the sun and moon made their way across the sky.

Eddie figured that the main reason they hadn’t met yet was because of
their identities. He had always heard and learned that the other god was a dog, but he had never actually seen the other in person. Or maybe, he did, but he didn’t recognize the other. ‘Oh well,’ he thought as he curled up in his underground den, ‘It doesn’t matter anyway.’ The beautiful smoky-red fox closed his eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.

“Aah!” Gaege yawned as he stood up. The night was young, and he had
work to do. He stood up and walked from his cave out into the dark. Even on a moonless night, he could see just as clearly as if it were day. The dog’s paws made for the center of the clearing in front of his home.

Once in the middle, he stopped, standing idle. Slowly, he closed his
eyes, morphing into his elemental form. The retriever’s fluffy white pelt shined brilliantly. When the gods morphed into their elemental forms, the aura from their bodies called forth their desired star. As the glowing moon-dog began his trek across the land, he looked around, admiring the scenery.

All along the forest trail lay beautiful, fluorescent wildflowers and grasses. A few owls flew across the way, some mice scurried along the path. The fir trees’ pine needles swayed gently in the wind. The wind that blew in between the trees like a river ran through a forest.

Gaege was so caught up in the view that he didn’t notice the huge dug-out hole only 7 feet in front of him.

CRASH!!

The shimmering retriever fell head- first down the tunnel. Soon enough,
the male stopped, crashing into some- thing furry. He didn’t move at first, but he felt the furry thing move. “Are...Are you the moon-dog?” a voice came from behind him. He stood up quickly and turned around.

In his sights, he saw a fox. It was difficult to see what the animal’s
color was because of the darkness of the den. Gaege’s glow was lighting the place up a little, but the other’s pelt was hard to see. It definitely looked a deep red, and there was a darker part along his chest, but other than that, it seemed a pretty dull color in the dark
room.

“Yes,” said Gaege. He saw no point in lying; the fox had already seen his glowing fur. He couldn’t very well shun his shine now, not when the moon was supposed to be out. The night would plunge into darkness. So he just went along.

“Wow! You-You look beautiful!” the fox stuttered. “Thank you, forest
creature. I’m sorry for disturbing you,” Gaege nodded his head politely as he made his way towards the exit. The dog was out in the open before he knew it, the fox hot on his heels. “H-Hey! Wait up, dawg!” the lithe creature called out as he burst into the open.

Gaege took a moment to study the fox’s form. Now, he could see a little bit better. He could see the deepness of the red and the light outline that faded into his black tummy. ‘He’s very pretty, and probably looked even better in daylight,’ Gaege thought to himself. But, he still had work to do, so he kept walking, resuming the gait he held before he fell into the fox’s den.
