The world was dark, silent and eerie, but felt calm and warm. This complex state puzzled me, so I tried to get myself to focus. The monks taught me well: always keep the mind and spirit calm.
I remembered it all: the knowledge, the experiences I had when I had been living, and the brief suffering when I had died. At least, I died for a cause, I told myself. "At least I served the Mother Goddess well."
"That, you did, brave one," an unknown but very (VERY) seductive voice whispered.
"Who's there? Are you the pretty lover I was supposed to meet, but couldn't, now that I've died?"
"Yes, yes I am."
"You're kidding?!"
"But, of course.""Daaaaaamnit."
That sensual giggle was my reply. "My, you are quite the amusing one. Even in that state, you're still able to remain calm.. and charming, too."
"Well, my lady, I have been training all my life to do so."
"Indeed. Now let me introduce myself."
She revealed herself then, a young and gorgeous thing in her early twenties, wearing a dress of rich emerald embroidered with gold leaves. It was also quite revealing. She smiled. "I am the Mother. People of the lands call me Gaia, the goddess of life."
"Whaaaaaaat?! No, please, you have a very good sense of humor, lady, but-" I scanned her from top to bottom, admiring that beauty and way of dressing. It was unbelievable-- and impossible. "Nope. I don't think so."
"And why is that?"
"If I may say so bluntly, the Mother had children (naturally!) and I've always imagined her to be kind, dignified and conservative. Dear lady, I do not mean to offend you, but you look too young to be a mother. Not to mention.. (a-hem) se- se-- seduc-- er, excessively attractive. You're more like an onee-chan instead of okaa-san."
Gaia blushed at this, however she didn't lose that mature composure. "Ara? Such a charming man indeed! Why, thank you. You may call me onee-sama, then."
"So, onee-sama, who are you really?"
"I am Gaia, the goddess of life," was the simple answer given with a gentle, patient smile.
"Prove it."
"Very well. I remember the day you prayed to me for the soul of your first pet, after you accidentally fed it with poisonous mushroom. You asked to be forgiven."
Ugh.
"There was also the time when you prayed that your dead teachers won't haunt you for accidentally breaking their tomb stones."
I felt like the monks were going to curse me. "Okay, I belie--"
"And there was also the time when a visitor held audience with your master, and you peeped on his daughter while she was in the bath. On top of that, you prayed that you would have someone like her for a wife someday, so that you could-"
"OKAY, OKAY! I BELIEVE YOU! PLEASE STOP!" I'm going to cry.
"Good, I'm glad you understand!" the Goddess smiled cheerfully. "Jokes aside, let's talk about your situation. Right now, you're dead, but your consciousness is still here. Why do you suppose that
is?"
"Because I'm weird?" I jested. Gaia replied with a deadpan, "Yes."
"Ack. That was just a jo--"
"It is because I held onto your soul," she cut in before I could finish my revoke. "I had the intention of rewarding a devotee such as you."
"Huh? But all i did was destroy the temple along with the sphere you gave us, just to destroy the enemy."
"That sphere brave soul, is a sphere with essence enough to give an army power to defeat a kingdom, it had the power to absorb energy and use it as a weapon if held by the wrong hands. Otherwise, it can heal and give prosperity of life that surrounds it"
"Oh, nowonder it had an excessive amount of essence energy. Sorry I destroyed it T_T"
"You dont need to be, you see it was a shame that the orb had to be destroyed but it would truly hurt me if that power was used to take lives. The enemy you killed would have tried to take countless number of lives using my power, all those deaths will be under my name. So with the sacrifice of your life you prevented that thus I truly Thank You from the bottom of my Heart"
with a gentle and sincere smile "and so I shall reward you to show my gratitude."
"I didn't understand what significance i did but i would gladly accept the gift that Godess Onee-sama may give."
Smiling like a Mother yet exuding a seductive aura along with her revealing clothes she said.
"Very well, Thus i will give you 3 gifts. 1st a second life. Not as a human but the chance to be something more, a divine being, but alas your reincarnation will be sensed by the other gods and thus you will be hunted down by the chosen of the other gods, inorder to hide your presence and existence from their eyes I have no choice but to give you a very humble body for you to exist."
"Uhm.. What body will that-"
Godess: "2nd!"
The godess suddenly cut his question short.
"(I don't know why but im scared what might i become..") thinking within myself.Godess: "The ability to evolve, an ability that will help you grow stronger as you survive. Lastly, a gift that i have never given to any before, the power to absorb essence. I trust that you would use that gift wisely"
I had my jaw dropped as those gifts seem to be too good to be true and said:
"I appreciate the gifts godess onee-sama, but i can't help but wonder.. is it not too generous of you?"She started to stare at me with eyes ever so peircing as if going through my body straight unto my soul.
Godess: "You see I have plans for you, Brave perverted one. Do you accept?"I cant help but feel a sudden chill running through my spine, my instincts are telling that refusing may become worse than death itself.. thus I accepted.
"Y-Yes dear godess onee-sama, I accept and apreciate the gift you shall bestow upon me and look forward towards the day that i may serve you again" -sweat drops-
She gave a foxy giggle and noded.
"Very good. Thus, I give upon thee the blessing of the godess. Grow strong and survive... Chosen one."The Godess then wispered to herself "Still the same as ever" *giggle*
Pure white invaded my eyes.
Do you want to reincarnate?
Yes
No
"What the hell is this? And such a stupid question, yes ofcoarse oh divine box with words and obvious choices"
Darkness came as my consciousness drifts away.
