Chapter 4

"Nancie, Nancie." Danny said shaking her awake.
"Aahh." Nancie jumped up and accidentally punched Danny. "Oww!" He wined rubbing his eye.

"Oh god Danny I'm so sorry." Nancie said hugging him. "It's ok, but hey you have a great swing on ya." Danny said hugging her back and laughing.

"Thanks." Nancie laughed "well I'm gonna get dressed now and go and meet Rafe and Evelyn before work. You coming?" Nancie asked him getting out of bed. "Yeah I'll be outside in 5." Danny said walking into the bathroom.

Nancie had her hair in french plaits and wore a black T shirt and put a belt around it to make it look like a dress. "Cmon let's go meet em." He said whilst getting into the car.

"Hey Evelyn, hey Rafe." Nancie called out waving to them. "Hey Nancie did Danny get you home safe last night?" Rafe questioned eyeing Danny up. "Yeah he did." Nancie smiled.

"Ok good well me and Danny have got to go now speak to you later." Rafe said hugging Nancie and kissing Evelyn. "Bye Nancie, let's all meet back up here after." Danny said

"Yeah will do bye." Nancie waved and started talking to Evelyn.

"So Danny you better treat her right." Rafe said one they walked far enough away from the girls.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked knowing what he really means.

"You and Nancie I know you are gonna get together." Rafe smiled nudging his shoulder with his own. "Yeah ok I really do like her but I was gonna ask for your permission first." Danny said turning to Rafe.

"Yeah go get her but you better not brake her heart or I might not forgive you." Rafe said patting Danny on the back

"Don't worry I won't ."

After their jobs everyone met up in the same place like they said they would including Betty and Red. Nancie was talking to Betty when Danny walked up to her wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

"Hey um Nancie can I speak to you a sec?" he whispered in her ear. "Yeah I'll see you later Betty." Nancie said as Betty squealed.Nancie laughed and walked off with Danny to their favourite place.

The beach.

"So Danny whatcha bring me all the way out here for?"Nancie questioned turning around and looking at him. "Well first of all I think you look really nice today." Danny laughed nervously.
"Well thank you, I do try." Nancie said and smiled.

"But the main reason I bought you out here was to ask you to be my girlfriend."Danny said and Nancie blushed.

"So Nancie Ray McCawley will you be my girlfriend?" Danny asked handing Nancie a bunch of roses.

"Of course I will!" Nancie squealed and jumped into Danny's arms. Danny let out a sigh of relief.

As they were walking back hand in hand she saw Eveyln run off crying."I'll go check on her, be back in a minuet." Nancie said kissing Danny's cheek and running after Eveyln.

"Hey what's wrong?" She asked running up to her best friend. "He's going away Nancie for 2 months." Evelyn cried into her chest. "Who is?" Nancie questioned rubbing her back. "Rafe!"

Nancie's eyes widened at the mention of the brothers name. "Where's he going?" Nancie asked. "He's going to fight in Europe along with Englands Royal Air Force and he might not come back." Evelyn cried even more now.

"It's ok he'll come back I know he will." Nancie hushed Eveyln while hugging her.

When Eveyln was asleep in her bed she went to go find her brother.
