⚠️TRIGGER WARNING⚠️

You wake up to the sound of your phone ringing.
"Who in the actual fuck is calling me?" You say as you grab your phone and answer the call. "Hilary, you better have a damn good reason for waking me up!"

Hilary is your best friend, you guys met in kindergarten, and when you came back to town in grade 6, you met again and immediately started being friends again.

"It's 1:00 in the afternoon Y/n, you're 24, don't you think you should have your sleep schedule intact by now?" She chuckles, and you know she's right, but after the whole pandemic thing that happened in March, you've been layed off work and since you couldn't do anything fun, you kinda became nocturnal. (For the purpose of this story, the pandemic ended in July. Sorry, I know it's confusing)

"Yeah well not all of us still have their jobs Hilo. And besides, mornings are for losers." You grumbled.

"I still can't believe they never brought you back to work! You really should fight them, you could make a lot of money if you sued them!" Hilary was always the nicest person you knew, that is until she found out someone was messing with someone she cared about, that never ended well for the other guy.

"No Hil, we've been over this. I don't want to have to go through the trouble of hiring a lawyer and setting everything up just to have to get another job anyways, it's not like I'm gonna go work for them again." You've thought about it a lot and eventually you realized that even if you fought it, it wasn't going to change the fact that you are without a job.

"Yeah I guess you're right." She said, you could tell she was planning something, just my the sound of her voice and that was never a good sign.

"Hilary I swear to god! If you try to ambush me like you did with that parking ticket-"

"I won't! I won't! I swear I won't!" She cut you off, giggling as she remembered the situation when you were 18. "Did you not win though..."

"I did," you started "but only $200, and I had to pay the lawyer, which was $250. You see the problem?" You chuckled as you rolled over in bed.

"Yeahhhh, I still owe you that, don't I." She sighed then changed the subject, like she always did when that topic came up. "Well anyways, I was thinking..."

"Oh no, is that where the smoke is coming from?" You giggled and you heard her grumble then laugh over the phone. "Sorry, keep going."

"As I was SAYING..." she emphasized the that word, making you chuckle. "I got invited to a soulmate party this weekend, at the Stark tower and I get a plus one, you in?" She asked, knowing that neither of you have found your soulmate, but that you've been looking ever since you were 15 and first got the initials "A.E.S" on your ankle, and you started to see random markings showing up on your skin that you knew weren't from you.

"I guess I can go, what day is it on and what time?" You asked, knowing all too well that she would get excited and hang up before you could change your mind, without you even knowing when to go.

"Saturday at 6, I can't wait! We will go dress shopping in an hour, I'll pick you up since it's Friday today, and then I'll come over to your place tomorrow, at 4 so that we will have lots of time to get ready, who knows, maybe Tony's middle name starts with an "E"." She'a been certain that Tony Stark is your soulmate ever since you got a big, circular scar on your chest. She said that "It must me from the glowy thingy in his suit!", but you don't buy it. Why would your soulmate be a billionaire playboy genius philanthropist, and you just be you, I mean sure you've been trying to get into voice acting for Disney, but they haven't called you back yet and it's been a week.

"I don't think so Hil, I'm too plain for him." You've always had confidence issues, ever since your dad started verbally abusing you and your mom, starting from when you were six. People always brush it off because you weren't getting hurt physically, but ever since, you've been SO careful not to get in trouble, and whenever someone starts to look angry, or starts to raise their voice, you can't control your emotions and most of the time you start to tear up and have to leave the room. You don't understand why people always think verbal abuse doesn't count as abuse, because in the long run, it hurts just as much as any getting hurt physically. Your dad was verbally and emotionally abusive up until you were 14 and he got cancer, while he was in the hospital, he realized that he had been hurting you. After that he apologized to you almost every time you saw him, until he died when you were 16. You always loved your dad, no matter how much he hurt you, but you've gotten so used to the abuse that whenever someone hurts you now, you think it's normal.

"Y/n, how many times do I have to tell you, your dad was wrong, you are the most amazing person I have ever met, and you are not plain! You are an amazing, talented and beautiful woman, and I love you!!" Hilary has always been there for you, no matter how silly your problem was, she would never underestimate it! She always said that if it made you upset, then it wasn't silly, and you would do the same for her! She was the best friend you could ever ask for, and you loved her with all your heart.

"Thanks Hilo." You say and sigh as you check the time again "1:30, what time did you say you'd pick me up at?" You asked so that you could map out your morning to the second and see if you could fit in any more sleep.

"2ish. Get ready and I'll meet you outside in half an hour. Be ready!" Then she hung up.

'There goes the idea of getting more sleep', you think while you get up to go get coffee. While the kettle is boiling, you go back to your room and pick out an outfit.

You put this on, and go back to get your coffee

You put this on, and go back to get your coffee. You always wear long sleeves to cover up your scars on your arms from cutting, you only relapse when you are under a lot of pressure and stress, but even so, you are embarrassed to show them. You started cutting when you were 14, but it got worse when you were 16, after you were assaulted and your dad died.

When you were done drinking your coffee, you went go do your hair and brush your teeth. You don't wear much makeup on a normal day, only mascara and some concealer if your dark circles are a little too dark, and today was not one of those days.

You brushed your teeth, put on some mascara, and then put your hair into a simple half up half down with a bun, leaving a few strands of hair out to frame your face.

When you were done, you grabbed an apple and left your apartment to wait for Hilary.
