Chapter 4/2 Younglings and Dream

I kept watched over the little ones as they ran deeper in the forest, taking sharp turns from left to rights randomly. My illusion kept up as the small group seemed to try to find somewhere they could hide. As far as I could tell no hunters were near them, but that doesn't mean traps of some sorts weren't left behind, a huge risk for the kids. And thanks to the vision of the bird it was easier to make out the traps.

"If they touch, kill, or hurt you anyway your collars will connect to the hunters Minecraft and send their code to the capital so they will be punished properly." The guard with the bunny masks said.

"Yeah right," I thought as I imagine wings soaring through the sky, "You can't track down if it's not alive. And if by some miracle the Hunter did get caught for cheating they would claim it was an accident. And another life would be taken for no reason other than for one extra point."

That's how the true game works. Yes it sounds like a perfect system that wouldn't fail, but humans all through history were known to cheat the system for their own benefits and glory. Hunters were no different, they would set up traps all over the lands just so even if they weren't on a hunt, if an unlucky Speed-runner gets caught and killed in one, then the Hunter gets points for an illegal kill. But do they get caught? No seeing as they most likely claim it as an accident. That they forgot about the trap and didn't take it down when they went home. There is no chance for survival if you're a Speed-Runner, and when they make us do things to get killed faster, it was only a matter of time before Speed-Runners were killed in Sub Terra like all those years ago.

"Not fair." The voice whispered in my head. It went a full 360 echoing in my mind.

"Definitely not fair." I whisper back.

It was a bit longer before my head started to pound from holding my illusion. My vision in the bird started to glitch from it's point of view to my own. I forced myself to hold it a bit longer, imagining myself as the bird, imaged how fast my heart would have to beat to pump the blood into my wings. How my breath would come out while flying. I was only able to hold it long enough to know where they were heading, before my illusion broke and I was forced back into my own physical form. I had to blink a few times to clear my vision from the bird's sight. My head felt so heavy, while pounding as if someone decided to hit it with stone rocks. Letting out a groan as I laid my head against the tree I decided to hide in, I let myself take a breather. My ability never been the same sensed the accident. My DreamState was the only ability that wasn't affected but everything else didn't seem to be able hold itself together anymore. I gave a weak chuckle as I thought about it. One of the most "powerful" speed-runners was actually one of the weakest, weird isn't?

I started to think about Sapnap, every dent, wrinkle, cut and bruised laid on his face. I thought of every single detail I have memorized to the point how his blood would pump into the veins, and then a connection hit me in between the eyes.

"Hey Sap." I say as I get up from my spot looking over the forest.

"Hey Dream." His voice sounded a bit far away, I must be very tired.
