The rest of your first week back at school continued uneventful. You and Eijiro went back to not speaking to one another and Kyoko gave you an earful for the now scabbed scratch on your face. At some point in the week you had received a text from Mitsuki asking you to dinner at her house Friday night. A sort of welcome back to school celebration dinner. You missed her and Masaru, but you declined, not wanting there to be a chance of running into Bakugou. It was now Thursday night and you had rushed home after class, picking up the things your mother cleared out for you.
*Bakugou's POV*
He sat at the usual table in the common room his friends used to study. The others occasionally chatting and asking questions. He, like usual, did not have much to say. He focused on the homework before him, trying not to let the others pull him from his work. He heard the front door open and close but kept his eyes on the page before him.
"Is she going somewhere?" Mina questioned, her attention moving from the person who walked in, to Kiri.
"Don't know, don't care," was his only response.
The context clues gave away who they were talking about and he couldn't help but take a quick glance up to see the girl he had been avoiding walking through the room with a suitcase behind her.
"Come on, Kiri. What happened between the two of you? You're back to where you were at the beginning of last semester."
"It doesn't matter," he muttered, looking through his pages of work, pretending to look for something to avoid the conversation.
Mina's voice held a tinge of sadness as she spoke, "Is she really leaving?"
An agitated sigh came from Kirishima before he responded, "She said something about spending time with our grandma. I really don't know."
Bakugou couldn't focus on his work after that, something compelling him to move from the table.
"I need some water." He stood up, bolting from the table. He could only hear Kaminari asking for some too as he walked away.
His feet took him passed the kitchen walking away from the others line of sight. He spotted her, making her way towards the girl's side of the dorm. His body pulling him to her side, she stopped a moment, glancing up at him, before she decided on ignoring him and continuing towards her room. Which was fair, he was the one who broke up with her. He wasn't sure why, but something urged him to talk to her.
"What's the big idea of turning down the old hag's dinner invitation?" His words came out harsher than he intended causing him to mentally cringe at the way he was acting.
She turned to face him again, a mixture of confusion and irritation on her face. She didn't respond, probably mulling over if she even wanted to give him a response. He spoke again before she decided to ignore him.
"I wasn't planning on going. If that's why you said no. I-" he paused, second guessing if he was saying to much. "I didn't want to come in between you and my parents. I know you guys are close." His gaze was averted from her the entire time he spoke. When she still didn't respond he looked down to read her expression. Her eyes stared at the wall next to them as if it held more interest than him.
"Fine, if you won't be there, I'll go."
There was another silence, neither one of you making the first move to leave. Waiting to see if the other had more to say.
"So, you're really leaving?" again his words sounded harsh even to him. As if accusing her of throwing in the towel on UA, on her time in Japan, and some small part of him, a part that would never admit it, saw it as her throwing in the towel on him.
