Chapter 20.

" there go ahead , I'll prepare coffee for you children"

He said as he pointed to a room and turned to the counter .
I entered first as the girls followed suit .

Jade tapped me from behind and placed the tape in my hand, with the tape in hand i turned the device in and placed it in as the plate pulled out.

The room was silent that the only noise you could hear were the silent breaths we all took and the whirling of the tape going round and round.

With a beep the screen lit , and we saw darkness displayed all over .
After a few moments of movements from the screen we heard shuffling and the sound of keys from the screen.
It looked as if the intruders had a tough time gaining access into the place.

A few seconds of shuffling and clanging , five strongly built men made their way into the huge room.
I could recognize 4 of them as the bulky men we had encountered some time ago today.
The three from earlier carried a sac - like bag.
They moved to the middle of the room and dropped it with a heavy thud.

On impulse , the tallest one of the two moved to them and ordered the other fellow companion who was busy placing a note that I had found later.

Flashback..

Mckenzie's p.o.v

I'd found a note just beside Marcos's body, I picked it up and waved it in front of the others .
They moved towards me as I placed it on top of the table and we all read..
You thought it was over, concealed yeah?
No children, it has just started.
All of you had a hand in a death or leers say deaths but I'm here for only one, who knows I might spar with the other.
Take note, I'm coming , I'm coming for the five of .. oh wait you're short of one.
I'm coming for the four of you.

From the screens , we could see how he ordered the latter to unzip the sack.
The three other men stepped behind as he started unzipping .

I wasn't shocked when Marcos's body dropped out from it.
Jade gasped , as I moved my lips to form words to comfort her, the shattering of ceramics caused us to look behind us, it was just Mr. Isaiah who seemed terribly shaken by what he saw.
Fear clearly written on his face.
He pointed to the screen,
" I've seen that face somewhere before  and not just a few hours ago"

Sometime had passed since Mr. Isaiah had revealed to us his knowledge on the matter.

He relayed that a few months ago he had heard a syndicate had moved into town, and that he himself had seen them on that night .

Apparently the men we met today were a part of it, but why would they be after us?

Dang I knew the answer very well.

Mr Isaiah continued saying since his coffee shop was near the school, he closed pretty late and had become close friends with Mark, one of the security guards at our school.
Hence whenever he closed, he would head over to Mark to have a chit chat before heading home.
But as he made his way to Mark's parameter it was unusually quiet and he felt uneasy but he shrugged it somewhere ,until his feet hit a figure laying on the ground.

Fortunately , Mark had just been hit in the head and  had fallen unconscious nothing that serious, seeing this he had already decided to check what was going on.
He told us he heard shuffling from upstairs, hence he climbed it stealthily , to say he was afraid would be an understatement of what he saw.
He quickly made to run, but one of the men saw him , and it's a miracle they've not harmed him yet.
The next day, he decided to check on Mark , but he had disappeared into thin air , no clues no trace of him , basically nothing.

"Then that's probably the reason why they scurried off" Cia said.

" you kids ought to be careful " he added.

After moments of silence , Mr Isaiah spoke up saying
" I'll try and find out all that I can kids , take this card you can contact me and you could always pass here anytime.
This place could even be your headquarters " he jokingly added.

Few hours later, the girls and I had successfully sneaked back into the school without getting caught.
As we passed through the empty hallway, someone cleared his throat , each and everyone of us froze and turned slowly dreading to see a teacher or someone in authority.

I was met with M. Carter I disliked him since and it had grown in ten folds since he asked Cia out .
It's a wonder they have not gone yet. I mean we've been busy , Cia..-

I was cut short when he said
" I would forget about telling on you guys if you all leave Cia with me for now . I have some urgent stuff to clear with her."
" am I wrong sunshine?"
He added and threw me a smirk clearly trying to piss me off.
Zizi decided to interrupt, but Cia gave us a smile encouraging us to leave and that she could take care of it.

The girls turned to leave and eventually so did I , but as hesitant as I was , I left the two of them alone.
