How did I pray?

Chapter 19.

Mckenzie's P.O.V

Realizing that we were being followed, I notified the girls.

Cia being Cia , said something stupid and I might be in love with her but off late she irritates me to the core hence I said some stupid stuff that I regretfully once they were out but..-

With that , I set my pace a little bit quicker , the car also got nearer and nearer , before I could say jack , three bulky men their looks nowhere near appealing jumped out , but a moment later another one, he reeeked of mystery he had a mask on which covered his face, his stature showed he was handsome to top it all up he had a mask on.

The mask looked somehow familiar, I could bet I'd seen it somewhere.

Whatever.
He was much taller than the rest of the men, and way more slender too.

If you asked me , he could pass for their boss.
This suspicion was later confirmed when the one who spoke earlier called him " Jefe"
I happened to have picked up some Spanish from my family's trip to Barcelona, winks.

" get in"

one of them said.

" because "
Zizi countered back giving them a death glare.

Noticing the tension , I decided to step in.

" we're going nowhere with you "

I said trying to look tough , but I was tough wasn't I ?
I got a little closer and stood in front of the girls as though I was their shield or something.

The Jefe who stood at a distance all that while watching us bickering must have had enough , because he cleared his throat but before he could utter a word he was interrupted by a man , he looked to be in his late fifties , but at the same time healthier than the presumed age.

His name tag read Isaiah , as he turned to speak to the man in the mask , he was visibly shaken but handled himself well and it almost looked like I had imagined it.

With a look around , Mr Isaiah cocked a brow at the mysterious trio and their boss.

What happened next I couldn't understand, as if he had scared them which was highly impossible or communicated through telepathy ,the men  turned in their heels and got into their black mini van .

It seemed they were in a hurry or so because their van left a trail of dust which I'm turn got into our eyes and throats.

After a few minutes with everyone processing what just happened Mr Isaiah spoke up.

" erm kids , you're high schoolers right?"

" yes please " Jade responded.

" I'm Isaiah and I don't get why you're all involved with these people " he added.

" anyways, I happen to run a coffee shop just across the street , and I sometimes pass by blue view high.
You school there?"

He questioned .

" yes yes we're in our senior year" Cia popped in.

" Sir, do you by any chance  have an old tape player in your shop?  I asked.

" thank your stars kids , I happen to own one" he said with a crooked smile.

With that we followed him in to the coffee shop across the road.
