She knew this.

The thought always nagging her.

Knew that her happiness couldn't last that long. She was one of those people with bad luck streaking her life every time it took turned for the better.

It had been so easy for her to say those words . So easy.

But it always took one word to bring destruction in anyone's life right? No explanations . . just a word . .a sentence.

People come and destroy your life with only one sentence. Satisfied with seeing the life ruined , they move on their way.

But everyone have their reason , everyone think they are doing it for the best . For a better future.

Darsana had left.

But her words didn't.

It hung in the air bitterly. Taunting her . Jeering at her.

His sister has snipped away every hope.

Sarah was sitting on the couch from the past one hour, she looked like a person whose ship had sailed . . leaving her all alone.

The happiness she was drunk on from the past one week drizzled back down into one miserable lump.

A lump that seemed to be stuck in her throat.

Her heart just felt. .dead. Yeah, that was the right word.

Dead.

She felt a strange chill setting in her bones. Her heart going ice cold making her realize . . nothing was ever as she thought.

Nothing ever had been.

For Damien was no ordinary vampire.

A royal? She had been with a prince all along?

What was she doing with a guy like that? Vampire or no vampire. .but a prince?

What hurt more was he hid it from her. Not even dropping a hint about his lineage and she. .the idiot that she was. . didn't bother asking.

So enamoured with his beauty.

And charm.

His eyes telling her beautiful stories . .not ever allowing her to question him . She felt bewitched by him.

But the feelings he awoken in her. .what about them?

Sarah fisted the comfy couch material and tried to think rationally . .tried to make her heart understand that . .she wasn't wanted . By his family.

Maybe by him too. .

Who would chose a girl over a mighty throne?

His sister had been nothing but nice and Sarah had seen how uncomfortable she had been in breaking her world apart . Hesitation in her voice . . asking her to move away from her brother.

She had told her to find a good human.

As if humans were pets sold at a shop that Sarah could go and get anytime.

She was not a bitter person but right now. .she could feel her heart wither and burn. The burning had started the moment Darsana had left. .the slow burn that hurt the most.

Hell, she couldn't even cry. Her eyes weren't tearing up. Something was wrong with her.

Sometimes the trauma is so deep, you don't know how to react to it.

The heart turns cold.

That's all.

Her whole existence was brutalized  . . .her hand had lifted and she rubbed at her chest as if trying to awaken her heart form the dead.

Anxiety was creeping in. .ever so slowly. . slithering in her. . making up scenarios in her head . . reminding her what was about to come. .

Her heart turned into an overdrive . .

The thus thud so loud it seemed to resonate in the walls of her house.

Scared , she stood up and looked around wildly.

"I only asked for one bloody drink." Elliot grumbled.

"Then make it yourself. I'm not sharing my virgin Mary with anyone." Damien was standing beside the bar , dipping ice cubes in his drink.

The sssshhhh of ice was such a peculiar sight to behold. The white mixing into the honey colored liquid. Depicting the way two things combine and make one wonderful—

"So did you purpose to her?"

There was a slight sneer in Elliot's voice that didn't go well with Damien.

"You know , I would watch my tone if I was you. " Damien said smoothly , turning at him. .the sparkling glass in his hand as he leaned against the Royal blue bar.

"What would you like me to call her? Your majesty?" Elliot grinned , loving how his test had succeeded.

Judging from the grin of his face , Damien knew he tried to spite him by disrespecting her. Just to see how he would react.

"One joke about her could cost you your life." Damien sipped on his drink.

His hollow cheeks coloring because of the drink shooting up in his system.

"And what about your sister?" Elliot said, suddenly looking somber.

"What the fuck has Darsana got to do with it?" Damien said calmly.

"Damien. . you need to stop. " Elliot leaned forward on the couch, hands clasped with each other.

Damien was silent.

His gaze calculating.

"If . . .if Darsana did anything. .so much as touched a strand of her. .it will be a war. A war neither of us will win. She knows better then to butt her head in my life." Damien sounded so sure of himself.

Elliot opened his mouth and then shut it close as if rethinking what he was about to say.

"When will you get it? You can't take a human as your bride , Damien. It's against the laws. Against our nature."

Damien downed the whole drink in one shot and winced at the bitter taste.

"Do I look like a person who cares about laws and whatever the hell?" Damien asked him quite amused.

And this time Elliot didn't have the heart to tell him what his sister just did. Going behind his back and basically telling the girl to back off .

He didn't have the heart to break him down. . .yet.

For he had firsthand witnessed how he had evolved, Changed. Love was such a powerful emotion that it changed the essence of this man he thought he knew well.

Brash, careless and murderous Damien had transitioned into a man who just wasn't interested in anything other than her.

Elliot didn't see any girl leaving his apartment.

Or laying down on the floor, passed out.

In fact he had seen Damien rejecting women without thinking much. And Elliot had asked him, teased him on it. .on rejecting women so heartlessly.

Damien had smiled.

Smiled and said. . .

"I find it ridiculous when a man , who claims to be in love with a woman , is approached by some girl and he leads the clueless  girl on. Not rejecting her but egging her on. I think one should be ruthless in love. Men shouldn't care about breaking hearts when it comes to the woman he loves. "
