The Afternoon Moon

32 8 24

I took a peek at

The risen half-moon

In the afternoon,

It was sobbing,

"Everyone notices me in the dark,

They use me to polish their paths,

And pour out their sorrows unending.

They're nice enough to let me cry too,

They even let me cascade all my bitter truths

And hug my craters in the mourning."

With lanky arms

I hugged its curve

Standing on this earth.

It smiled and said,

"I like when they share their happiness too,

It washes over my driest dunes,

And makes me feel like a joyful satellite.

But hearing only sorrow,

Dreads me from all the tomorrows,

So I hope one day, they'll talk too about light."
