The morning after my party, I'm sitting in a chair by my pool, nursing an awful headache while watching my servant pick up discarded cocktail glasses and half eaten horderves.
"Coffee, sir?" one of them asked, offering me a steaming cup.
"Yes, thank you," I responded, taking the cup of dark liquid. "Once I finish this I'll help you guys clean up."
"Oh, you don't have to-"
I held up a hand. "I insist. It was my idea to have this party, so I should have to clean this up."
The servant still looked confused by the prospect of me helping them, but he nodded. "Of course, sir."
The servant walked away, and I took a sip of my coffee. The caffeine helped a little bit with my hangover.
Before the party, I'd told myself that I wouldn't get drunk and risk making a fool of myself in front of my guests. But Uraraka kept making me get drink after drink, and I couldn't say no.
Most of the night was a blur, but I could tell that I'd had a lot of fun.
I smiled at the memory of Uraraka's smiling face, and the way the skirts of her dress moved as we danced together.
I drained the last bit of coffee from my cup and made myself stand up, wincing at the way the abrupt movement caused the pain in my head to flare up again.
I grabbed one of the brooms that one of my servants had left leaning against the wall and started to sweep up some of the streamers that had fallen down.
Eventually, I got in a rhythm, the act of cleaning familiar and almost soothing. Before I knew it, it was lunch time. One of my servants brought out a tray of sandwiches, and I ate them while looking out at the ocean.
Sitting there, enjoying the feeling of the warm sunlight and the way its rays made the water of the sea sparkle, everything suddenly feels real. Up until then, it felt like a dream, moving to UA Island, just like Kacchan and I always talked about. But it wasn't a dream, and I realized it in that moment.
I sighed, thinking of the man who's the reason I'm here, and uttered a single "thank you" to the sea breeze.
