"Master Midoriya?"
I looked up from the book I was reading to look at the servant standing in front of me. "Yes?"
"You have a visitor," he said.
"Let them in," I replied, closing my book and straightening in my chair.
"Right away, sir," the servant said, bowing and walking towards the door to the sitting room I was in.
I'll never get used to the whole "master of the house" thing.
The servant opened the door, and Tenya Ida entered.
"Hello, Ida," I said, smiling and standing up.
"Are you ready to go, Mr. Midoriya?" he asked.
"Yes, I am." I turned to the servant. "I'm going for my morning walk with Ida. I'll be back around lunch time."
"Yes, sir," the servant said with a nod.
"Right, let's go," I said, walking towards Ida. We headed through the foyer and outside, towards the street.
Ida and I had been going on these morning walks together for the past couple of days, since he had shown up on my front porch and asked for that drink I'd mentioned at my big party. Even though his audacity and intensity had freaked me out a little bit at the beginning, we'd really bonded over the past few days, and at that point I would have considered him to be my friend.
As we made our way towards our usual walking route, Ida began talking about some deal that his older brother had made recently. I only understood half of it. My business knowledge was limited to what All Might had taught me, and what I'd managed to observe over the years.
A car horn honked loudly from somewhere close to us, and Ida and I turned in its direction. Uraraka, in her shiny white car, had pulled up alongside us, a wide grin on her face.
I felt my face heat up. We'd spent some more time together at Mina Ashido's beach party a couple days ago, and I was thinking of her constantly.
"Hello boys," Uraraka said. "Enjoying the nice weather?"
I tried to answer, but only strained noises came out.
Thankfully, Ida responded. "Yes, we are. Where are you headed, Ms. Uraraka?"
"Nowhere, I'm just out for a drive," Uraraka answered. "Do you guys need a lift?"
"No, we're good, thank you," Ida said.
I just nodded, and Uraraka smiled at me. My heart fluttered.
"Alright, if you're sure," she said. "See you around Deku, Ida."
"Yeah, see..." I started, but Uraraka had already driven away. "...you."
"You need to be careful with her, Midoriya," Ida said.
"Why's that?" I asked, my face starting to cool off.
"Her father made some bad financial decisions, and her family's construction business went under," Ida answered. "She's gone after every wealthy bachelor on the island. She's determined to marry into money, to help her family."
"And this is common knowledge?"
"Yeah, pretty much," Ida said. "It's pretty hard to keep secrets here, especially with the press always circling around like vultures."
"I don't understand, though," I said. "Why do I need to be careful around Uraraka?"
"She's only acting interested in you so that you'll marry her, and she can have money again," Ida said.
