chapter two: surprise!
"...lee suho"
suho blinked, quickly letting of her wrist. minyoung's shocked expression had faded as she attempted to avoid suho's gaze. when he had looked away, they stood there awkwardly. the silence was uncomfortable - he put his hands in his pockets and she fixed the positioning of her watch.
"why are you here?" he asked her, looking up to meet her eyes.
the girl bit her lip out of nervousness. it had been a long time since they've talked - the last time being seyeon's funeral. minyoung had refused to see suho, even when her brother had already made up with him. to her, his existance was a reminder of seyeon.
there was so many things about him that drove her crazy but there is a particular reason why she doesn't acknowledge his presence anymore. suho tried and tried to mend everything - but he slowly forgot about her as he met jugyeong. and she watched it all unfold.
minyoung rolled her eyes, "am i not allowed to be here?", she chuckled, "i own this place."
suho stared at her with an unreadable expression. he ignored her sarcastic statement and replied in a serious tone, "i mean what are you doing in japan?"
she hesitated her response. "i should be asking you the same," she answered. the girl mentally facepalmed at her stupid reply - everyone knows why suho is in japan - it was covered in headlines all over south korea.
he ignored her response once again, "shouldn't you be with gowoon? your mom? i could care less about you but i care about your family."
ouch, that one stung. she felt a sharp ache in her heart but the girl had no idea why her body reacted.
his statement is totally understandable though. minyoung didn't mean anything to him anymore - she had hurt him more than seojun ever could. the girl noticed how he left out seojun. what do you expect from him? the twins made his mental state cripple more than it already was and they didn't even know about it. her dad just died, yes, but he doesn't know her circumstances.
minyoung sighed, twirling her hair through her fingers, moving closer to him with only a few inches separating the two of them. he looked down at her with widened eyes, but didn't pull away. "i don't know how deaf you are," she continued, "but mind your own fucking business. if you could care less about me, i might as well just leave. there's no point in talking to you."
she turned around and walked away, leaving suho standing behind as she walked towards the elevator, the echo of her heels on the marble tile building tension.
the brown haired boy combed his fingers through his hair. why did he care so much? she's just some old friend who hates him for no reason. seojun always said that she never told anyone her reasons - knowing her, she never told anyone what was going on in that head of hers.
after a few moments of lurking, suho walked to the secretary's counter. "do you know who that girl is? the one with the long brown hair and expensive jewelry that just walked into the elevator?" he asked her, as she looked up at him. the woman explained, "she is ceo han's daughter. she's the legal owner of the company, but the higher ups are in the process of teaching her the ropes." suho nodded, and walked back to his dad's room.
"what's going on?"
