chapter 6: bald cats and a broken friendship
"seyeon? you mean that guy who debuted before you just because he was best friends with the ceo's son?" akari exclaimed at once, in shock. ryu nodded, and akari let out a sigh, trying to form an opinion.
ayumi stayed silent. 'why is han minyoung so complicated?' she thought to herself. she remember that moment when she say minyoung crying is lee suho's arms of all people.
"don't worry about it. it's all in the past." ryu told the girls, reassuring them that they shouldn't do anything. it was a matter between all of them - from kang ryu to han seojun to lee suho, then to han minyoung. he didn't want anyone else to get involved in his mess.
if ryu was honest, he had an ounce of empathy in him. he could not stand being in yoon seyeon's presence but he didn't despise him enough to wish him death.
maybe that's why he cried when seyeon died, but pretended he didn't care. he has to live with the guilt of being a reason why he decided to die that day. it's his karma and he's willing to live with it.
"ryu! ryu! are you there?" akari waved her hand in front of his face, trying to get him back to reality. he flinched and she rolled her eyes, "don't space out on us."
"yah ryu," ayumi called out suddenly, causing the male to turn to her, "what's the ceo's son's name?"
she was starting to connect the dots.
"lee suho." he told her. the girls look at him wide eyed. "that's the guy in our class!" akari's tone filled with surprise, "so they're all connected?"
ryu nodded, "all of us were under move ent. so naturally we knew each other for a long time. with that time came a lot of difficulties and broken relationships."
—
minyoung face planted in her silky comforter that night. why has she had the worst luck in the stay in japan? first she bumps into lee suho, then bumps into kang ryu while finding out that he's best friends with her only friends. she let out a big sigh and rolled over to face the ceiling.
kang ryu wasn't a good person nor was he a horrible one. he had a liking for minyoung, but he soon found out that she was dating yoon seyeon. this made ryu hate him even more than he already did so he did everything to make seyeon's life miserable.
from putting laxatives in his food to sabotaging his performances, it stopped being playful once ryu's hatred grew stronger.
he befriended minyoung and she confided in him with her relationship problems and general issues. she didn't know what kind of person ryu was to seyeon before she found out for herself. seyeon always kept it to himself in fear of ruining everything.
'i wish you just fucking disappeared!' kang ryu yelled at the guy in front of him, pushing him to a wall, "why do you steal everything i want!"
they were close friends, hanging out at least once a week and facetiming every other night. minyoung thought of no romantic feelings, but ryu started to develop them.
that's when she told him she didn't truly love seyeon because she loved lee suho. and that was one of the biggest mistakes. maybe it was out of frustration or jealousy when kang ryu walked up to yoon seyeon that day and betrayed his best friend, but it ended like shattered glass.
irreparable.
'god my life sucks' she told herself, tossing and turning in her bed, trying to fall asleep.
—
sunday's were always fun. minyoung's finally able to have a breather to just hang out at home. she sat on her bed, spending the whole day watching youtube videos and eating instant noodles. very healthy, right?
the lazy girl took a look at the digital clock on her watch and called seojun.
"hello?" he picked up the phone, waiting a couple seconds for a response. "can you buy a bald cat?" minyoung straightforwardly.
"pffft," seojun laughed, "you called to to ask for a bald cat?". minyoung whined "yahhh!! i feel like you guys need a pet, ya know? our house probably has zero energy because im gone,"
"what a narcissist," seojun retorted as minyoung felt him roll his eyes behind he phone, "don't bald cats look like nutsacks?"
"UGH I HATE YOU BUT please please name him bingus i beg of you!!" she begged. the guy chuckled, "you'd be lucky if you just got a normal cat, don't be too excited." and he hung up.
