"Illumi?" Killua muttered to himself in complete horror. He swiftly moved Gon off of him, but was careful not to wake him.

He walked over to the window and opened it as quietly as he could, to see his brother standing on the small balcony.

"What are you doing here?" Illumi asked, in his usual monotone voice. "The door was locked on our apartment, so I had to spend the night here." Killua responded, terrified of what his brother might've seen.

Illumi scoffed, "You could've stayed at a hotel. I told you about friends, didn't I?" Illumi asked, staring deep into Killua's soul.

Killua gulped, there was something about his brother that absolutely terrified him, just his presence alone.

"You're wrong, I won't betray Gon." Killua said, trying his best not to appear vulnerable. "So his name is Gon?" Illumi asked. Killua didn't answer, he didn't mean for Gon's name to slip out.

"Cmon. Mother is waiting for you back at the mansion, she's not pleased." Illumi answered. "I need to get my stuff..." Killua mumbled. "Get your things, and I'll be waiting for you outside in five minutes." Illumi said, before vanishing into the night.

Killua shivered, the cold air coming through the window along with the hatred he held for his family sent chills down his spine.

He turned around to look at Gon, who was fast asleep. Killua crept down the hallway to grab his bag, but while he walked he noticed something. There was a framed photo hanging on the wall, a picture of a man holding a baby. He took a closer look at the photo, and realized the eyes on the baby were most definitely Gon's.

He came to the conclusion that the man holding him was Gon's father, the one that abandoned him.

Killua bit his bottom lip at the idea of someone being cruel enough to leave Gon, but then came to the realization that that was exactly what he was doing. Tears threatened to leave his eyes at the thought of leaving Gon, who had already been left behind before.

But then he remembered, if Gon's father still earned the praise of being hung in their home, maybe Gon would forgive Killua when the time comes. "Forgive me Gon..." Killua breathed.

Gon woke up the next morning to an empty bed, did he wake up late? He crept downstairs to find Aunt Mito cooking breakfast.

"Did you see Killua leave?" he asked. She shook her head, "No, was he not here when you woke up?" she asked. Gon shook his head, "No, he left without a word." he muttered. He retreated upstairs to grab his phone.

~Killua~

< why'd you leave so early?

delivered

Gon waited several minutes for a reply. He opened his phone again,

~Killua~

< why'd you leave so early?

read: 8:20am

Gon read over the notification and frowned.

~Killua~

< did i do something wrong?

delivered

Gon waited for another notification, but no notification came. Killua didn't even read the next message.

He came downstairs for dinner later that evening, and even though he hadn't eaten at all that day he still had no appetite. 'What did I do?' he thought.

Aunt Mito took notice of his odd behavior and frowned, "What happened?" she asked. "Killua isn't answering me, I wonder if he's upset with me." Gon muttered.

Aunt Mito shook her head, "Don't worry sweet boy, I'm sure he's busy. You'll see him tomorrow at school so you can ask him then." she answered. Gon's lips curled into a small smile, "Yeah you're right. Thanks Aunt Mito!" Gon said.

"His family temporarily unenrolled him from class." Mr. Wing told Gon.

Gon slammed his hands on his desk, "What!" he shouted, receiving looks from people outside of the classroom. "I thought he would've told you." Mr. Wing muttered, pushing up his glasses.

Gon shook his head frantically, "When's he going to be back!?" Gon exclaimed, obviously worried. Mr. Wing sighed, "Gon I can't reveal information on other students. I'm sorry." Mr. Wing said.

Gon dug his nails into his own palms, "Please! I beg of you!" Gon exclaimed, bowing as low as he could.

"Okay okay please stand up Gon." Mr. Wing muttered. Gon rose back up, tears streaming down his cheeks. Mr. Wing sighed, "I don't know when he'll be back in class. He's going to pick up his belongings after school today, but if anyone asks I didn't tell you that." Mr. Wing said.

Gon wiped the salty tears from his face, "Thank you Mr. Wing..." Gon mumbled, retreating out of the classroom.

Gon sat next to Mr. Wings door after school. He wasn't going to leave until he saw Killua. He saw the pale boy turn the corner seconds later, and Gon jumped to his feet. "Killua!" he shouted from across the hallway, but he watched the boy stop in his tracks.

Killua stood there for a moment, and then looked down. Gons heart dropped when he saw this, wasn't Killua at least a little happy to see him? Gon sprinted over, a worried look painted his face.

"Killua?" he mumbled, while Killua remained staring at the floor.

"Uh what are you doing here after school?" Killua muttered, looking around to see if anyone was watching their interaction. "I was waiting for you..." Gon muttered, why wouldn't Killua look at him?

"I just need to grab my stuff." Killua said, walking past Gon and towards Mr. Wings classroom. Gon bit his bottom lip, before running after him.

He grabbed Killua's hand, and Killua flinched at the touch. "Killua why are you avoiding me? What did I do?" Gon asked, while Killua still refused to face him.

"I'm not-" "Look at me then." Gon interrupted.

Killua paused, and then slowly turned around to face Gon. Gon's eyes widened at the purple bruise on Killua's cheek.

"Who did this to you?" Gon asked, swiping his thumb softly over the bruise. Killua jumped back, "I fell. Look, I need to get my books so can you let go of my hand?" Killua said, pulling his hand back.

Gon shook his head, "No you're being weird. Why are you leaving school?" he asked, tightening his grip on Killua's hand with no intention of letting go. "It's family stuff, now let go." Killua answered coldly.

"No Killua, that's not like you. Just a few days ago you said that you liked me and you-" "Don't bring that up. To anyone. I don't feel that way." Killua said, surveying the hallway once again.

Gon stood there in shock, his tears threatening to fall. "I need to go, my brothers waiting. Let go." Killua said, no sense of emotion in his voice. Tears streamed down Gon's cheeks, as he gazed up at Killua's heartless expression.

"Please don't leave me Killua..." Gon mumbled, biting his lip as hard as he could to stop the tears. The metallic taste of blood flooded Gon's mouth, as his teeth dug into his bottom lip.

Killua watched Gon in awe, and little did Gon know that Killua was trying his hardest to hold back his own tears. "I gotta...go." Killua choked, pulling his hand away.

Gon fell to his knees, and watched Killua's figure walk out of sight.
