CHAPTER V

Day 1

Jennie's steadily typing on her laptop's keyboard, fingers tapping on the keys, mechanically, as the blank spaces fills up continuously. Meanwhile, her piercing, cat-like eyes, that follows the words she typed on the monitor, would raised up, from time to time, to look over at the girl sitting beside her sister on the sofa.

That girl, on the other hand, is actually Mina, who is seemingly engrossed with the textbook she's reading. However, in truth, she's hyper aware of the weight of someone's penetrating gaze at her. She bit the bottom of her lips, feeling the beads of sweat forming on her temples as she reads the same passage on her textbook over and over again, in the past ten minutes. Whenever she tries to look up to find the source of her discomfort, her eyes would zeroed in on Jennie, who is sitting elegantly on the wing chair, typing seriously on her laptop that is on top of her - well - lap which, truthfully, seems like a really uncomfortable position. She can't help but to wonder why Jennie chose to do her own school stuff here with them in the living room when there's other, much preferable, places for her.

And, in the midst of all of this is Lisa. Unbeknownst to Jennie and Mina, Lisa has been actually watching them for quite sometime now, her eyes would go back and forth between the two, wondering what's with the tension and awkwardness coming from them, infiltrating the air.

So having enough, Lisa let out a fake cough, successfully getting the attention of the two girls who look at her like they just noticed her being there with them this whole time.

"So..."Lisa started, looking at her unnie who stopped her typing. "I guess, it's better if we" pointing at herself and Mina "continue our project in my room. The rest of my supplies are there anyway, so it's easier fo-

"No" Jennie cut in, not letting Lisa to finish her words, and turned her attention back to her laptop as her fingers begin their rhythmic tapping again.

Lisa was left flabbergasted, mouth hanging open as she turned to Mina as if to ask the latter 'what the hell is going on?', but mina just gave her a hesitant smile because she is clueless as well.

So taking a long, deep (patient) breath, Lisa decided to try again as she look back at her sister, "Unnie, we-

But Jennie cut her off again, "No" without missing a beat.

That exasperates Lisa, "but why?"

Her unnie finally raises her eyes, one eyebrow turns up as her piercing, cat-like eyes throw a glance at Mina first, causing the latter to squirmed in her seat; and then Jennie's gaze finally landed to Lisa, who felt suddenly nervous as well.

"Just because" Jennie simply responded with a nonchalant shrug as the sound of tapping continues.

Day 2

The sound of utensils being use is the only thing that could be heard as Jennie, Lisa and Mina eat their dinner silently.

Mina tries to swallow her steak as she, yet again, feels the penetrating eyes of the older Kim on her.

"are you in a relationship right now, Mina?" Jennie suddenly asked, causing Mina to choke on her food.

Lisa promptly helps her friend who is just sitting beside her. Giving a water to drink and tapping the back softly. When she noticed that Mina is now breathing properly, she turned to her unnie who is also drinking a water, she swear she could see a hint of a smirk on her lips.

"What's with the sudden inquiry?" Lisa asked her sister who's now looking innocently at her.

Jennie frowned, "why? I'm just genuinely curious" and to Mina "I'm sorry if I surprised you like that, it's not my intention" she apologized, not sounding sorry at all as she said it in an upbeat voice.
