I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My hair was curled into ringlets and half of it was pinned back. Megan had done my makeup for me and she'd made my eyes look beautiful. "Wow. My little girl's all grown up," I heard my dad say. I turned round to look at him and he gave me a hug. "I can't believe you're getting married and having your second baby. You're only twenty three," he told me. I smiled and placed a hand on my baby bump. "But I'm happy, Dad. Happier than I've ever been," I replied.
The door opened and Megan came into the room with Anabelle. "It's show time," she told me. I gave Anabelle as kiss on the cheek before she disappeared with Megan once again. "Are you ready?" my dad asked me and I nodded. This was it. It was time to marry James Graham, the man I loved. As my father lead me up the aisle, my heartbeat sped up. All eyes in the room were on me and I suddenly became nervous. But then my eyes met James' and my lips curled into a smile.
When I'd reached the top of the aisle, my dad kissed my cheek before James took my hand in his. "Jasmine, you look beautiful," he whispered. I blushed as I did every time James complimented me. I once believed that true love didn't exist and that people just settled for someone they could get along with. I once believed that butterflies were a myth and no one had the power to make you feel like that. But James Graham changed everything. He made the fairy tales real. His smile could light up my whole world in seconds. Every time I saw him my stomach would flutter and I'd be truly content. I can't explain true love in words. It is something you have to experience yourself. But I can tell you that there is hope in finding it. After all, James Graham was the one.
As the ceremony went on, I couldn't control the excitement building up inside me at the thought of being Jasmine Graham. And when it came to the time to say our vows, James spoke first. "Jasmine, my beautiful Jasmine, I promise to always catch the spiders and set them free outside the house. I promise to always take out the rubbish and I promise to hug you all the time. I promise I will never stop buying jars of Nutella. I vow to give you my heart. I promise from this day forward, you will never walk alone. May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home. I love you."
I had to look up to prevent any tears from falling and ruining my makeup. "James Graham, I promise to pack you lunch when you've got a busy day ahead. I promise to make the bed every day. I promise to always kiss you when you're mad. I vow to love you when you're forty five and still play Xbox. I'll love you with all your flaws, your mistakes, your jokes and your sarcasm and even with the silly faces you pull when you're singing. I'll love you with all the madness in my soul."
The service carried on for a little longer. James and I exchanged rings and were pronounced husband and wife. "You may kiss the bride." James' lips immediately touched mine as his hands rested on the small of my back and everyone began applauding us. "Jasmine Graham, I love you," James whispered before kissing me again.
James and I walked down the aisle, hand in hand and exited the large room. Everyone followed us into the large dining hall with a dancefloor in the middle. James took my hand and led me to the middle of the dancefloor. "Baby," James whispered, kissing my cheek as his hand rested on the small of my back. "I can't wait for our baby to be born."
James and I danced together for a little while before Jake took over. "I can't believe you're married," Jake said as we moved round in the middle of the dancefloor. "Me either. It's all happened so fast. But I am so happy," I told him. "I'm glad." Jake smiled before spinning me around so I was facing Barclay.
Once I'd danced with Barclay, Charlie, Tom, Chris and Casey, James took over. "I can't believe I'm actually married to you," I whispered as James pulled me closer to him. "I'm so happy," he replied, kissing my lips. Someone tapped James on the shoulder and he pulled away before turning to see Reece. "Do you mind if I take over?" he asked. James hesitated but nodded, letting go of me.
Reece took hold of me and we began dancing. "Jaz, I'm really happy for you," he told me. I smiled before resting my head on his shoulder. "I miss you," I whispered, looking up at him. "I miss you too. So I have to go. Enjoy the rest of your wedding, Jasmine," he said, letting go of me. I was left in the middle of the room as Reece walked away.
I took some of the material of my dress in my hand, lifting it slightly so I didn't trip over it. I ran after Reece as he walked out of the building. "Reece!" I yelled after him. He stopped and turned around to look at me. I crashed into him but he managed to steady us both as his arms caught my waist. "I love you. Thank you so much for everything," I told him before kissing his lips. He smiled against my lips before I pulled away.
"Reece, this is the last kiss I'll ever give to you," I said as my fingers rested on the back of his head. "We had a good run. But now it's over," he replied and I nodded before I kissed him again. I didn't want to let go but I had to. Something had changed in the way I felt about Reece though. I no longer got butterflies when he smiled at me. I hardly felt any love for him.
