Chapter 10: ~Good Old Times~

Nicole's POV

*People talking*

( I heard some people talking around me. I couldn't open my eyes for a moment... It was like something was trying to shut them off.. they felt really heavy, but I knew I had to wake up.

I groaned and opened my eyes and immediately blocked them because of the ceiling light. I didn't really remember what happened.. only that the kidnapper ran away...

I removed my hands from my face and looked up to see Elena, my personal doctor, and Hank talking to each other with their backs on me. I didn't see Connor anywhere. I was seated on a chair, and it looked like I was in the department's personal office.

I rubbed my eyes and spoke in a raspy voice )

Nicole: Hank...

( They both turned to look at me. I didn't look at Hank's face, but I knew that he was relieved to see that I woke up.

My head was still hurting, but I decided not to let that get in the way. I held my forehead as Hank came by my side and sat down on his knee )

Hank: How are you, kid?

Nicole: What happened to the kidnapper?

( I asked right away. Did he run away? Did he die? Where was he? Hank paused for a moment before speaking. I was concerned about the kidnapper, cause if he was dead, I might never know who he actually was... )

Hank: They got away..but don't worry, we'll catch that fucker.

Nicole: How..? He jumped off that roof.. didn't he?

( Hank wanted to say something but it looked like he was doubting himself. He sighed quietly and spoke )

Hank: He did.. but he... he just vanished...

Nicole: ....What?

( I was so confused right now. How the fuck did he just vanish? Is he some kind of magician? Does he have invisibility powers? Like, what the fuck?

Hank didn't seem to understand what he was saying as well, cause he looked confused as fuck himself.. but he did have a concerned face as he looked at me, which was reasonable for the condition I was in. I mean, I passed out, obviously Hank is gonna be worried about me.

Hank sighed and looked at Elena, he got up as Elena came to me and bent down on her knee )

Elena: How are you feeling?

Nicole: Like shit.

( I joked as Elena chuckled quietly. Elena is a really nice girl. She's been my doctor and friend ever since I was hospitalized for the first time after one of our cases, when I was still partners with Hank.

She's beautiful.. both on the inside and outside. She's a really kind and quiet type of girl who knows more business than actual "doctors". She's 28, married to her wife, Maria and they both are honestly by far the cutest couple ever, after Chris and Olivia.
