Chapter 16

Ian's P.O.V

"This, is your idea of relaxing?" I ask her.

"Yeah, this is super relaxing trust me, " she says before turning her attention back to the ball.

I watch as Chloe extends the club in her hand and exhales before pressing her lips tightly together and strikes the ball, or maybe not.

I watch as the club hits the air a few centimetres away from the ball, making Chloe stumble back due to the amount of strength she put into that.

"Yeah, I can see that!" I say, switching the golf club from one hand to the other.

"Is because I haven't warmed up yet! Don't worry I'll get it the second time, " she glances at me, smiling.

"This is your fifth time, " I mouthed at her.

Her shoulders slouching as she pouts her lips.

"No one needs to know that, " she mumbles before turning around and concentrating on the ball again.

"Is just that this needs you to be good at maths, that's why it's taking me a little longer. You know to estimate distances and the amount of speed you'll need to get it there and I'm 19 and still suck at maths!"

She continues to mumble to herself before shutting up, inhaling deeply and then exhaling, an act I feel myself unconsciously following. 

She raises her club and hits the ball!

I look up at the sky and mouth thank you really quickly.

"Yes!" Chloe yells, jumping up and down and smiling hard.

"I did it, " she turns and tells me, running at me and jumping on me.

Oh, God!

I quickly let go of my club and wrap my arms around her waist holding her tight, so she won't fall.

"Your turn next!" she lets me go and turns around, making me duck as she waves her club around.

Almost smack me in the face!

I let out a breath and pick up the club again taking Chloe's previous place.

"So, is this supposed to be relaxing only when you win?" I ask her while keeping my eyes on the target.

"No, the whole concept is relaxing. You're out in the field, " she starts saying.

"Not really, " I mumble.

"You're hitting balls so you can get out all the negative emotions and you do feel excited when you put it in the hole."

I open my mouth to make a sex joke, but I thought it would be too crude to say to her that "yeah, well I want to put something else in your hole".

Yeah, too crude I think as I shake my head and strike the ball.

Chloe leans forward and her mouth falls open once we saw that it landed in the hole.

"Beginner's luck I guess, " she chuckles even though she's clearly annoyed that I put it in on the first try.

I put another ball down and turn to look at her.

"Are you sure this is relaxing for you?" I ask her again, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, why wouldn't it be, " her voice a tone or two higher.

"I believe you, " I say nodding at her.

"As you should, now hit it so I can go again, " she waves her hand for me to proceed.
