Genevieve woke up in a sweat, the nightmare she endured nightly being the cause of her interrupted slumber today like the days before.
"Fucks sake..." she cursed under her breath. She decided on getting up and starting her day. Looking at the clock she noticed it was only 5:00 am. She pulled her dress robe around her body, fastening it around her waist. As she walked out of her room she made sure to check on Alexander.
"Safe and sound" she heard from behind her, making her jump.
"Fuck Thomas! Do you ever think to not scare the life out of me?!" She breathed hard.
"I didn't know I scared you.."
" I feel like my hearts comin' out of my chest" she ignored his response and went to the kitchen to put a kettle of tea on. It was 5 am, she wanted absolutely NO part of Thomas's shennigiens.
"Did you fancy a cup?" She asked, turning back toward him and he just sat there reading his paper. After no response she just made him his tea and then herself one, walking back towards her room to prepare for her shift at the mother's birthing home.
After she found herself putting on the usual black ensemble, she decided to leave her hair down and natural today. Checking the time, she went back down stairs and began to make breakfast for herself and Alexander and Thomas.
"Genevieve..why didn't you tell me when you knew you were pregnant" she heard from behind her and she only sighed.
"Thomas.. I was scared. Scared for you, scared for John and Arthur.. for myself. We literally just got married and you were off to war and I didn't think it was best.." she trailed of placing a plate of eggs and bacon with toast infront of Thomas and began to make herself a plate.
"Why didn't you write me a letter?" He asked, his brows posed together and a look of annoyance on his face. It was early in the morning and he was asking her serious questions but had the nerve to get annoyed with her!
"I did, ya simply didn't answer and I took it as a sign you wanted no part of this family so I left you be." She sat down across from him and tucked a small blonde piece of hair behind her ear and started eating. She dared not to look into his eyes, those ocean blue orbs she fell in love with when they were children and continued to fall in love with them every day since.
"I would've stayed and taken care of you, love.." he spoke in almost something of a whisper. She felt a tear come to her eye and quickly wiped it away.
Because while it may have been true, he would have stayed to take care of her and Alexander, he wouldn't have actually been there. He's a Peaky Blinder, the head of the show. He isn't exactly something of a family man and she knew it.
"Oh, Thomas... you and your broken promises.." she spoke, finally getting the courage to look at him with the minimal tears she had.
