The day started out as usual. Genevieve got up, checked on Alexander as usual, got scared shitless by Thomas and made breakfast.
A typical day in the life of a wife, she often thought. The days with Thomas were hot and cold though. One moment he was instensely inlove, the next he wanted nothing to do with her.
"He's gone mad... not givin' you the time of day.." Ada trailed off, sitting at the breakfast table and drinking her tea.
"It's not that he doesn't give me the time of day, it's really that when I ask about how I can help him with things he doesn't answer. I just want to help him, to just be the ease of what stress he has on his shoulders" Genevieve spoke, adjusting her black pencil skirt.
Ada simply knodded, knowing exactly what Genevieve meant.
"Well, how are things with Freddy? " she asked wishing to take her mind off of what the topic was at the time. Ada perked up and smiled.
"Absolutely a bloody fuckin' miracle! But i'm getting tired of meeting down by the cut, and shagging in the dirt.."
"You keep doing that you'll be like me, married and pregnant!" Genevieve spoke, smiling and sipping her tea.
"Well, I always have said I'd love to have his babies and marry 'im.." she trailed off in bliss. Genevieve could only shake her head and smile.
If only marriage was just that easy..
Later that day, Arthur called for a family meeting in Polly's home. As expected, Arthur was mad as hell and Thomas didn't pay it no mind at all.
"Right, I've called this family meeting because I've got important news. Scudboat and Lovelock made it back from Belfast last night, and came across these..." Arthur spoke, passing several papers around.
On the paper was a advertisement of some sort, asking for anyone who was protestant and willing to fight to come to the police station and apply.
"To do what?" Ada asked, slightly puzzled.
"To clean up the city, Ada." Genevieve spoke, trying to keep Alexander occupied.
"He's the new chief inspector, the last four years he's been cleaning the IRA out of Belfast." Tommy spoke and Genevieve grunted in amusement. Of course! The great Thomas Shelby knows absolutely everything!
"How do you know so bloody much?" Arthur looked at Tommy, slightly irritated that he knew more than Arthur.
"He asked the coppers on the pay roll..." she trailed off and noticed Tommy staring at Genevieve, a slight smirk on his face.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Arthur asked, unscrewing his flask and taking a sip.
"I'm telling you" he spoke again, his eyes never leaving her.
"Why in the fuck are you staring at me like I'm meat?" Genevieve asked, staring back at him.
"I like watching you be a mum." He replied, taking a cigarette into his lips and igniting the flame.
"Be nice if you stepped up as a father" she cooly spoke and crossed her legs.
"So why are they sending him to Birmingham?" Polly spoke at correctly the right time.
"Well, there's been all these bloody strikes at the BSA, and the Austin works lately. " Tommy spoke and Genevieve just sighed.
"Is there a problem?" He asked, pausing to look at her.
"Get to the point, please. I have a job to get to" she spoke, placing her hands on the table.
"Now the papers are talking of sedition, and revolution. I reckon it's the communists he's after" there he went, staring back at her and she smiled. Genevieve may have been alot of things, but a button pusher was definitely one of them.
