"Hi, dad. Wow, that still feels weird to say. Sorry for not texting for a while I've had some things going on. I have a boyfriend now! I really like him too. I mean I guess that's mandatory for dating someone. Anyway, things have been pretty good I guess. How about you? Say hi to Daisy for me. If you ask me she's a keeper;)"
Katia sighed as she sent the text and picked up her backpack to go to school. She walked to the train and got on sitting down. The doors opened on the next stop and Peter walked onto the train. "Hey, Kat!"
"Hey, Peter! Glad to see you made it home from the party alive." Katia said.
Peter laughed. "Alive and well, thanks to you." He said. "I found this purple glowy thing that Ned and I were gonna examine in the engineering lab after school today if you wanna help."
"Ugh, I wish I could but my mom wants me home right after school," Katia said, remembering that when you are harboring fugitives, it's best to have everyone accounted for. "It's probably a Chitari power source though. So that's something to start out with."
"Great thanks," Peter said. "I'll see you in class then?" Katia nodded as the train came to a stop at the station a few blocks away from their school and they got off.
After a pretty normal day at school, Katia went home. She plopped her bag on her bed and sat at her desk to write an essay on the Civil War that was due in about an hour. It was a war between people who were supposed to be standing together against common threats. There were unnecessary casualties and the North and South were pitted against each other ever since... Huh... Kind of like what happened with Steve and Tony. Honestly, why can't they just put it in the past?
When she finished most of her homework, Katia went upstairs to the training room and got out a gun. She pointed it at the cardboard target at the other end of the room and started shooting. With deadly aim, she hit the four lethal points on the human-shaped target many times.
Suddenly she heard the window slide open behind her. She turned to face the intruder with the gun in hand. Peter put up both of his hands. He looked scared and surprised as his body tensed. "Don't shoot!"
Katia laughed. "Peter! I'm not gonna shoot you!"
"That look you had on your face said otherwise," Peter said, un-tensing.
Katia tilted her head. "What 'look'?"
"Your murdery look," Peter said defensively. "Whenever someone pisses you off you shoot them that look and they back down like a scared puppy. You ever wonder why Flash doesn't pick on you as much?"
"And here I was thinking that it was because of my winning personality," Katia said sarcastically.
"Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the murdery look." Peter joked. "It's a good look on you."
"Oh, really?" Katia said. She stepped closer to Peter and put her arms around his neck as they kissed.
"Yep." He said quietly as they broke apart for air. He ran his hands through her hair and went in for another kiss.
Katia happily leaned up into the kiss as he leaned down. She smiled against his lips and pushed him against the wall. Katia and Peter held onto each other for dear life as their lips met. "Peter..." She pulled away. "My mom's home..."
Peter sighed. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow then..."
Katia grinned. "You know... I think the girls' lacrosse team is usually out of the locker room by 3:30 if you wanna... meet up tomorrow."
"I-I'd like that," Peter said, flustered. He went back to the window smiling. "Bye Kat."
"Bye." Katia walked downstairs blushing and sat down on the couch, picking up a book.
Tony was at his desk still thinking about what that mystery kid had said. Give Natalie Rushman my regards. He opened Natasha's file and searched for any relations to a child. All he could find about her past was that she escaped the red room and started working for SHIELD almost ten years ago. There were six people logged on the quinjet that came back from Russia. However, only five were named in the file. The sixth one wasn't even mentioned.
It was Fury, Clint, Nat, Coulson, and Maria. He knew Fury wouldn't give away anything, Nat and Clint were like two peas in a pod, and Coulson and Maria were completely loyal to Fury. He would just have o figure it out himself.
He found out the serial number of the quinjet they took and tried hacking the security cameras. It wasn't easy, but after a few hours, he finally got it. The footage at the beginning of the footage, he saw Clint walk into the quinjet with Natasha and a little girl. She had long, dark brown hair and kept her head down. Tony switched to another camera in the quinjet.
He was able to see the child's face. It was definitely her. Although she looked almost like a whole other person. Her fear-ridden forest green eyes darted around the quinjet for a while. For a moment, the little girl looked right at the camera. Just as the realization hit her that she was being watched, her expression hardened. Never had a small child looked so intimidating.
Katia practically skipped down the stairs and went to the living room and sat down on the couch. She got out her homework and grabbed the TV remote to put something on in the background. She had decided on Gilmore Girls.
She couldn't stop herself from blushing. She couldn't even focus on physics and it wasn't because of the TV. She noticed Steve sit down. "What are you watching?"
"Gilmore Girls," Katia said, not looking up from the papers in her lap. She didn't want anyone to see her smiling and blushing.
"What's it about?" Steve asked, clearly bored and wanting to make conversation. Being a fugitive and not being allowed outside because of it will do that to a person.
Katia realized this and put down her homework. "It's about a girl and her single mom who lives in a small town and stuff. It's a sitcom. The whole theme is that they're both really smart and witty and stuff." She explained. "There's also this guy named Luke who the mom, Lorelai, is totally in love with but doesn't realize it until later in the series. And then there's these guys, Dean and Jess who are both love interests for the daughter, Rory."
"Reminds me of you and Nat..." Steve pointed out.
"Huh, I never realized that. Who would be Luke then?" Katia asked.
Steve chuckled to himself. "Definitely Bucky."
Katia sarcastically gasped. "Do you know something I don't?"
"No. They don't even know it yet but Bucky definitely acts differently around her." Steve says. Katia nods. She obviously wouldn't mind if Nat dated someone. But she's been single for the longest time. It'll be weird if she gets in a relationship, especially with Bucky. "Is there anyone who would be a Dean or Jess for you?" Steve asked, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Katia immediately thought of Peter. "I- uh... I don't know."
Steve laughed. "I thought you were supposed to be good at lying?"
"I am good at lying!" She defended. Steve looked at her incredulously "Fine. There's one guy who's really sweet and cute and stuff... but that's all you'll get out of me."
"Come on, at least tell me the guy's name." Steve persisted.
Katia sighed. "You really have nothing better to do, don't you?" Steve rolls his eyes. "Okay... His name is Peter." He looked at her expectantly. "Jeez, what more do you want? He's from Queens... He lives with his aunt... and he's smart. That good enough?"
"That's great!"
