Katia was 14 years old now. After the fall of SHIELD, which happened just a few days after her kidnapping and torture, she was lucky that she wasn't in any SHIELD files because all of them were released. So technically, the only evidence of her existence was her birth certificate which is probably in the dusty shutdown orphanage basement.
Ever since she had been in the Hydra base, she had been experiencing some pretty weird stuff. It could have been because of the Terrigen crystals. She looked it up and saw on the news that there had been a big Terrigen outbreak in fish oil pills for some reason. Apparently terrigen gave people with a certain gene inhuman powers. She wondered where she had gotten the gene. Possibly from either of her birth parents?
Whenever Natasha was away on a mission, Katia practiced her abilities. It seemed like she could control energy and electricity. Every so often she would recharge her laptop, or turn her lights on and off again.
Katia was used to Natasha being gone a long time, but this was nearing a week. She was starting to get a little worried. She turned on the news and saw that a city in Africa had been destroyed by the Hulk. Was that where she was? Katia decided to call Natasha. There was no answer and she was sent to voicemail.
"Мама, I saw what happened in Africa on the news. I just wanna know if you're okay and when you're coming home."
Katia sighed. She looked at the time. 11:30 PM. It was getting kind of late. Katia decided to go to bed. She walked into her room, and laid down in bed. She didn't bother turning the lights off. It sounded childish, but she didn't like the dark. She didn't like not knowing what's right in front of her. In a physical and metaphorical sense.
She especially didn't want to be in the dark when she was all alone. Usually, Natasha would ask Uncle Clint or Aunt Maria to babysit whenever she was on missions, but neither of them were available. Clint was on the mission with Natasha and Maria was working at Stark tower now so there was no way that she could get out of work without explaining that she had to babysit Natasha's kid.
When Katia finally closed her eyes, she was swept into a land of dreams... and nightmares...
Katia's eyes opened, but she knew that this wasn't real. She was in a dark room. That's when she started seeing things... reliving things. Madame B's harsh punishments. The torturous interrogation at Hydra. The fear she felt when she was being engulfed in the odd stone capsule. And then it was darkness. But not just darkness. She could feel herself suffocating. She started hyperventilating...
Finally, Katia jolted awake. But as soon as she did. The lightbulbs in her room burst. So did the ones in the rest of the house. And the ones on the rest of the block. She screamed. She was used to nightmares, but this time she was in the dark again. Well she wasn't going to get anywhere by sitting by and letting it scare her.
She decided to clean up the shards on the ground. Katia put on shoes and started sweeping. When she finished disposing of the glass and remains of the lightbulbs, she knew she had to replace all of them. She grabbed a small ladder and a box of spare lightbulbs from the broom closet.
Lincoln, Daisy, May, Fitz, Simmons, Bobbi, Hunter, and Mack were sitting in the SHIELD base, eating breakfast when there was an alert. They all hopped out of their chairs and went to the briefing room. There was an abnormal power loss in Washington DC. A whole block went out but no other houses that were connected to that powerline went out. Electricians were called only to report that there was nothing wrong with the power line. Simmons spoke up after they all read the file.
