"hey, emotionless?"

connie's voice was laced with mischief, their eyes staring up at their taller friend. he stared back down at them with an unamused expression, sighing exasperatedly before he finally responded. "mhm?"

they were stood in their college hallway, awaiting their next lesson. e-cig was stood with his arms crossed over his chest, fluorescent pink dress standing out amongst the other students, whilst his smaller companion stood in an inflatable penis costume.

"y'know how the ackerman's have that whole - uhhh - ackerman bond thing? like, mikasa has that bond with eren, and levi with erwin, or whatever?" c dawg's brows furrowed slightly, and they pouted, almost rethinking their decision, before shaking their head and clearing their throat. "who would thunder have that bond with?"

emotionless seemed to dwell over their words for a while. he shrugged his shoulders with a small shake of his head, "thunder's always been a sole survivor, so..i don't know, to be honest." he hummed. "you see, he hates the military police and graduated at the top of his class, so he never really made any friends."

connie clutched their chest at e-cig's tragic original character's backstory. it pained them to see a character in so much turmoil! however, they had a character that could spark joy in any original character, emotionless or not. gasping, c dawg tilted their head. "may i suggest...emil?" they questioned with a small smirk, their brows raised as if they'd thought of a genius idea.

"bro, like - no." e-girl's response was like a solid jab to the scrotum - a harsh punch to the abdomen when you're desperate for a shit. it hurt, and connie made that very clear. they sniffled, bringing their hands up to their face to wipe away their forming tears. hanging their head, they sighed, "gonna go cry now.."

completely disregarding his friend's pain, emotionless tapped his chin in thought. "y'know, thinking about it - it'd have to be with his homie erik ackerman, right? he did help him, after all." he hummed a little more in thought, brows furrowing as he tried to come up with answers to the questions he just kept creating for himself. if thunder hated people, who would he have such a strong bond with? his cousin, erik? surely that would make sense; that would have been a genius plan. two ackerman's sharing the ackerman bond was -

"yeah, but - like - that's boring." c dawg's response pulled emotionless straight from his thoughts, and he landed back into reality with a thud and a grown. he deadpanned at connie's words and sighed heavily. "what? just because it's not emil?"

aaand emotionless goes straight in on the attaxky, dribbling the ball towards the goal..

connie's reply was simple: "no, because it's another ackerman."

e-cig chuckled lightly, leaning down a little to look c dawg in the eyes. "stop lying to yourself," he began, tutting quietly and shaking his head. "you're saying it's boring because it isn't emil."

he shoots..

c dawg scoffed, peering up at the other confidently, as if challenging his verdict. "nope - genuinely, it's because it's another ackerman." they stated with a shrug. "that's just a regular, family bond."

and he misses...

emotionless sighed; perhaps connie was right. he needed someone special, someone different. he couldn't copy levi's character completely; thunder ackerman had to be his own character in one way or another.
he sighed, at a loss, and shrugged his shoulders. "i have no idea, then.."

c dawg reached up to pat their friend's shoulder. "spice it up a little bit." they grinned and laughed softly, "choose a bezzie mate!"

the bell sounded.
