Chapter Two- Sinking Deeper
Connor smiled. He was gorgeous. Brandon noticed I looked uncomfortable and pulled me into a hug. His hug was cold and didn't make me feel any better. The hug lasted longer than it should have, so by the end I only felt the awkward level rise.
I'd never felt awkward around these boys. But that was before Connor came. His presence changed things.
Evan stepped forward and spoke. "Iris, this is my friend Connor. He doesn't bite. Hard," Evan spoke quietly like he was afraid someone was going to catch him. He winked and pulled me into a tight hug. He was warm in all the right places and we fit together like a puzzle. This hug was shorter though and left me craving more.
Evan stumbled again as he walked towards Connor. Something was different about him. He seemed unusually quiet, but that he was exploding to laugh so loud the sky would shake. He high fived Connor and they both broke out in laughter like there was something funny to laugh at.
Zach whispered something to Brandon. They looked uncomfortable.
Suddenly Connor pulled out a small, white, thin object from his jean pocket and lit it. I instently knew what it was from the smell. Weed.
Connor passed the cigarette to Evan. He took it greedily and puffed it. Evan then glanced at me. He held out the cigarette.
When I didn't take it he came over and put his arm around me. "It's fine babe. It's just for fun. It's a good time that's all it is," Evan whispered into my ear as he slipped the cigarette between my fingers. His breath was warm on my ear and tickled.
I'd never smoked before. I didn't really want to. The scent emanating from the cigarette was disgusting yet appealing at the same time.
Zach saw my hesitation and spoke up. "Hey Evan. She doesn't have to if she doesn't want to. It's cool."
"No it's fine," I said defending myself. I put the cigarette to my lips and breathed in the smoke. It slightly burned my lungs, but only for a moment. It wasn't that bad.
I got a rush of excitement and continuted to enjoy the cigarette while I had it.
Connor's deep laugh filled the air. "She loves it!" He cried. "That's my girl! What's your name again?"
"Iris," I said with a wink. Evan moved his arm from around my shoulder to around my waist. He pulled me closer until I collapsed againest him.
I smiled and laughed. Evan had never done this before. He seemed to have some what of an interest in me. After all that was what I wanted. Evan to like me.
Connor came up behind me and slapped my ass. I shot him a look, but I didn't make a big deal out of it.
"Hey!" Evan spat at Connor. "She's mine."
His words echoed in my head. She's mine. Did he really just say that?! She's mine! I was dying inside, but I kept calm on the outside.
"Oh I'm sorry." Connor said right before placing his arm over my shoulder. With his other hand he grabbed my ass and didn't let go for about 30 seconds.
"Get away from her," Evan growled and pushed Connor away but at the same time pushing me."Don't you touch her! Don't you ever touch her again!"
Evam went over to where Connor sat on the ground with a sick smile on his face and picked him up. Connor helped himself up by jumping when Evan yanked him up. Evan went to punch Connor, but Connor quickly ducked. Connor was a little less high than Evan so his reflexes were ten times better. Connor tripped Evan and he tumbled to the ground. Connor struggled to get on top of Evan and began to punch him.
I glanced at Brandon and Zach. They sat there in horror. They were unable to move. I knew they were not going to help Evan.
Blood was now trickling down Evan's face, but he was able to throw a few punches at Connor. Connor was still on top of Evan and I knew he wouldn't stop until someone made him.
I threw myself at Connor. He was caught off guard and was forced to face plant the ground. Now Evan was safe, but I was in a direct spot to get injured. And Connor saw that too. I was done for.
