Chapter Ten- Karma
Evan's POV
I wanted nothing more than to believe him, but it was just so damn hard. But as soon as his tears finally spilt over and instead of the clear they were suppose to be they were a glowling crimson, I knew he'd been touched by something unhuman.
He spent the day telling his story. How his master had known all along that Iris and I were meant to be together. He even used the term "soul mates". Connor knew he couldn't stop us from being together, but he feared what Satan would do to him as punishment since he had clearly failed.
And that's when the idea hit me. I had to help him. I had to free him.
Later Connor left and then Iris called. "Steven was pissed," she said. I knew she was talking about how she had spent the night, but I let her go on and talk anyways. I needed to hear her voice. Incase things went wrong.
Before I hung up I told her I'd be over at her house around nine. She told me that was fine and then I was left to my thoughts.
At around nine Connor returned. "Did you make a decision?" he asked. Fear filled his face. This kid was truely afraid of his master's power and I would be too if I were in his shoes. But after tonight it'd all be over.
I nodded.
"And?" Connor closed his eyes and braced himself for the news. I knew he wanted me to just say that things were over between Iris and me, but he also knew that probably wasn't going to happen.
I shook my head and turned away. I fiddled with the object I held in my hands. I turned away. I couldn't see those crimson tears again. I just couldn't. "I'm sorry friend. And I'm sorry for this."
For the time it took me to reach Connor it felt like a life time had gone by. My palms around the blade in my hand were sweaty and I feared the knife would slip through my fingers before it got to do its job.
Connor had barely opened his eyes by the time the metal connected with his skin. As the blade slid in further his eyes and mouth both grew wider and wider. His faced was still red from the lines left from his tears and his chest was now beginning to match that same sickly color. The fabric from his shirt turned a deep red and was slowly soaking up the blood from his wound.
Connor slowly feel to the ground as I stepped away. His mouth was filling with his blood and was beginning to spill out of the corners of his lips.
And then as quietly as he could with the last bit of force he had, he whispered," Thank you... friend." And then he was nothing more than a corpse.
Iris's POV
I'm not really sure what happened to Connor. After a while he never came around anymore. I asked Evan about it and he just shrugged. I didn't want to think about it though. I was happily with Evie. And that was all that really mattered.
