We went through the door that was directly right of my room door. I was surprised to see it lead to a set of stairs going down not to another corridor but a room. The room was large at least 25 meters long and probably about 15 meters wide. It was full of tables and chairs like the ones you used to have a primary school for eating lunch at. On one side there was a large hatch for serving food in. As I stood in awe that something so big and normal looking could exist in this place people started to walk in. This was the first sign of human interaction that I had seen since I had got here. I never thought I'd miss other people, I hate humans and yet I still missed seeing them.
They all seemed so normal. Milling around getting lunch interacting with each other as if they had never known any other life.
"Are they all like me?" I asked Dr Miller
"No, we have only found about 20 people like you around the world. Most of these people are the staff."
"So why am I meeting them now."
"You have been showing a positive response to training and that means you are ready to meet some people and gain some form of understanding as to what is going on."
"So I'm allowed to talk to them."
"With Ferns supervisions. Yes, you may mingle."I grabbed the opportunity and spoke to as many people as possible. Unfortunately in the excitement of seeing other human beings I completely forgot to get any information of meaning out of people but I figured I could do that another day at that moment I just wanted to listen to others speak and answer their questions about me.
Over the next few weeks, I trained more really got to grips with hand to hand combat and gave up completely with the guns after nearly shooting my foot. There was one thing that still evaded me though. The ability to control the prophecies I hadn't had one since the bathroom. This was the longest I'd gone without anything. As I gained more freedom of movement to roam around the cafeteria and training track I began to become a part of whatever scheme they were running I started to forget about any other life I had lead. I started to want to be there.
Two months after arriving I was in the cafeteria talking with one of the men from the IT department about how to get into a closed system. At this moment he asked me what I thought would happen if he tried to put a virus onto a government website and try to hack into their system through that. I discussed servers with him and he made a joke and put his hand on my arm. The next thing I know I'm watching him hack into some government database and then flashing forward to him being arrested for hacking. I came back and there were about 15 people gathered around me. Dr Miller, Xander and the green-eyed girl are all running towards me.
"Black eyes." Said Fern in a rushed and urgent tone.
"Definitely," said Jim from IT.
"Max, what did you see," Xander asked.
"Jim was hacking some sort of database it looked like a government one with a lot of security, and then it suddenly flashed forward to him getting arrested."
"What do you think set it off?" Dr Miller asked.
"Well, I was thinking what the outcome could be if Jim broke into a government database and then my mind seemed to just give the exact events as they would happen. What does this mean?"
"That I shouldn't hack into a government database," Jim said. This lightened the air and allowed everyone a moment to consider what had happened.
"I think it's time to get her in on what is happening." Fern suggested to Dr Miller and Xander.
"Yes. Fern, I think you will be the best person to explain as you were in a similar position 5 years ago." Dr Miller said.
"Xander may I use your office as it is a bit more comfortable than mine." Asked Fern
"Feel free."
